It was a sunny day last week when the Georgian Bay Club Foundation came to present CGMHF with a donation of $85,000! These funds will be used to purchase additional hip & knee replacement instruments and a large battery drill. These are used daily in both trauma and joint replacement surgeries and will help Collingwood General and Marine Hospital meet the growing demand for orthopaedics in South Georgian Bay. The 95.1 The Peak FM 'hiking' team is well on their way across Canada thanks to many generous sponsors. In fact, they've quickly (virtually) walked all the way from Halifax and now are near Upsala Township, Ontario! Where is Upsala you may ask? About 142 km's west of Thunder Bay, Upsala was named after the city of Uppsala in Sweden. It's a northern Ontario destination for fishing and camping...and the perfect place to keep hiking for the Hospital in support of the 'Odd Cou...ples'! Great job Peak FM crew! On September 12th, an ambitious group of cyclists completed a ride around Lake Simcoe what a feat! The riders included local Collingwood and Waterloo residents who raised an amazing total of $30,000 that will be distributed between Grand River Regional Cancer Centre, located in Kitchener and Collingwood G&M Hospital. Here is a note from the organizer: ... We want to thank all who donated to our Lake Simcoe fundraiser. It was a long day but we had mainly favourable winds and a great group of 9 riders. You support is much appreciated! Congratulations to all who participated. The Collingwood Kinette Club has served our community for 55 years. Recently, the decision to close was made, in part due to the effects of the ongoing pandemic. This dedicated group of eight have always fundraised from the community for the community, donating to several local organizations, such as the Collingwood G&M Hospital.
