April 19, 2020 To Canadian Fiddlers and Fiddle Fans: Given the uncertainty of the times, the Board of Directors of the Canadian Grand Masters Fiddling Associati...on has made the difficult decision to cancel the 2020 Competition which was scheduled to be held the weekend of August 28-29th in Winnipeg, Manitoba. We would like to thank the local organizing committee for all the work they have done to date, and look forward to seeing you all in Winnipeg in 2022! Plans for the 2021 Competition in Nova Scotia are still ongoing. We will be reviewing those plans as we go forward. The Board is currently exploring ways we can celebrate Canadian fiddle music on the weekend of August 28-29, so please stay tuned! It has been heartwarming to see the many ways fiddlers and fiddle fans are connecting on-line during this crisis! ‘Til we meet again, Cathy Sproule President Canadian Grand Masters Fiddling Association The Winnipeg committee for the 2020 Manitoba CGM is now shifting gears and will move forward as the 2022 Manitoba CGM committee. Compte tenu de l’incertitude qui règne en ce moment, le conseil d’administration de l’Association Canadienne des Grands Maîtres Violoneux a pris la décision difficile d’annuler le concours 2020 qui devait avoir lieu la fin de semaine du 28 au 29 août à Winnipeg, au Manitoba. Nous tenons à remercier le comité organisateur local pour tout le travail qu’il a accompli jusqu’à maintenant et nous avons hâte de vous voir tous à Winnipeg en 2022! Les plans pour le concours 2021 en Nouvelle-Écosse sont toujours en cours. Nous les examinerons au fur et à mesure. Le Conseil étudie actuellement des façons de célébrer la musique du violon traditionnel canadien au cours de la fin de semaine du 28 au 29 août, alors restez à l’écoute! Il est réconfortant de voir les nombreuses façons dont les violoneux et les amateurs de violon se connectent en ligne pendant cette crise!
