As of October 1, 2020 the Alberta Immigrant Nominee Program (AINP) has made several changes to its program:... 1. ) A new online portal is available to submit applications. 2.) Candidates must pay a fee to submit an application, as well for post-decision services (requests for nomination extensions, 204(c) Letters of Support and reconsiderations). 3.) Some AINP processes have changed with the introduction of fees: o 204(c) Letters of Support are no longer issued at the time of nomination. Nominees must submit a request to be considered for a 204(c) Letter of Support. o All requests for post-decision services must be sent by email. o The steps for applying to the Self-Employed Farmer Stream have changed. 4.) Changes have been made to several of our temporary COVID-19 application and processing adjustments. 5.) Updates and corrections to AINP applications must be sent by email. In re: Student Permit/PGWP: Today IRCC announced changes that are being implemented to provide more flexibility on eligibility rules for the Post-Graduation Work Permit Program for students who start their Canadian study program online from abroad. Students are now able to study online from abroad until April 30, 2021, with no time deducted from the length of a future post-graduation work permit, provided 50% of their program of study is eventually completed in Canada. ... Students who have enrolled in a program that is between 8 and 12 months in length with a start-date from May to September 2020 will be able to complete their entire program online from abroad and still be eligible for a post-graduation work permit. Students who enroll in a program with a start-date from May-September 2020, study online up to April 30 2021 and who graduate from more than one eligible program of study may be able to combine the length of their programs of study when they apply for a PWGP in the future. Student can apply for a PWGP in the future in this case as long as 50% of their total studies are completed in Canada. To be eligible for these measures, students must submit a study permit application no later than September 15, 2020 for programs with a fall start date.
