Good morning Challenger Baseball families, We hope this e-mail finds you and your athlete(s) safe and well!... We’ve heard from hundreds of Challenger Baseball families across Canada about your successes, your struggles and your ideas on how Jays Care Foundation can help during this difficult time. In response to the feedback we have received, we have identified four distinct areas in which Jays Care can help Challenger Baseball families. In order to do so, we are excited to announce the Challenger Baseball Family Support Project. What is the Challenger Baseball Family Support Project? This project, created in collaboration with Challenger Baseball families across Canada and our partners, has been designed to help in the following ways: Increase access to groceries and proper nutrition for families who may be struggling; Increase access to literacy opportunities and reading materials for athletes who while at home may otherwise not have access; Increase access to specific adaptive equipment and resources for play, learning, and/or recreation therapy to self-run Challenger Baseball at home while there is little to no access to community programming; and, Increase access to opportunities specifically designed to reduce feelings of isolation and loneliness amongst our athletes and their families. What Can the Challenger Baseball Family Support Project Provide? All Challenger Baseball families are eligible to apply for one, two, three or all four of the following supports: $100 Grocery Gift Cards provided by Sobeys (can be used at Sobeys and Freshco stores across Canada); $25 Indigo Gift Cards provided by the Indigo Love of Reading Foundation (can be redeemed online for books for children and youth); An Adaptive Equipment Kit from Flaghouse Inc. (families can choose from five different kit options); and/or, Access to the Video Pen Pal Project (this opportunity matches Challenger Baseball athletes with a video pen pal from across Canada). WHO Can Apply? Any family with an athlete who regularly participates in Challenger Baseball in their community, school and/or local organization who is in need of support in any of the four areas listed above. HOW Can My Family Apply? If your family meets the above criteria, we encourage you to apply online by filling out the online application form below: ENGLISH: https://forms.gle/1e7FpyK5gyYpz4B58 FRENCH: https://forms.gle/WFak9yBJeL33ptuw5 Please fill out this application on or before Monday, May 25th 2020.
