God is SO good! He’s SO good to us! I know some have seen the post about The Christmas Star appearing this year on December 21st. I couldn't help but really ta...ke a deeper look at how amazing that this occurrence would be happening in the year 2020. In the year when Jesus was born, there was violence, chaos, political and social unrest. It was dark. The Magi found Him by way of the star, which was the "meeting" of 3 stars: Jupiter, Saturn and Mars. They followed the star until it rested on where He was and they began to worship Him. In a time where is was dark, Light was brought in to our world. Jesus stepped in to the chaos and brought peace. Fast forward to this year, 2020. It's a time of violence, chaos, political and social unrest. It is dark. Winter Solstice, December 21st, being a time where the day is the shortest and night is the longest...it's literally the "darkest day" and is the beginning of what most would say the cold, dark winter season. But on the darkest day this year, Jupiter and Saturn meet, giving us the Christmas Star! How fitting...that in the moment of time during the Christmas season that we get to see this beautiful reminder...that even in the darkest of times...Light will, and has, stepped in. In our chaos He is there. In our darkest time, He is there. He brings Light, and makes all things new. So as you look out on Dec 21st for the Christmas Star, may we be reminded of His power, and His Light that He brings for all mankind. He is perfect at stepping into chaos and bringing it into peace.

There are a couple of things that need to get done this week at the Chalmers Community Garden, so we’re putting together a team of volunteers for Friday morning.... (1) The carrots need weeding (2) Some of the beds need manure...yuck...mostly composted...but bring your gloves. Can you join us? With a group of ten people, we’ll be done in no time! Probably an hour or so. Please message me if you would like to help out and that way we can respect group size and social distancing constraints. Work Bee, Friday at 9 am Chalmers Community Garden Destination... local food banks Please message Tom Franklin

Weeding is ongoing at Chalmers! The squash are setting and watering plans are in place! The carrots are doing very well. As I thinned today I put these bunch...es together for Kincardine Foodbank tomorrow. Your produce is welcome there. I drop it at the Anglican Church before 9 to avoid disruption required by distancing. Just wear a mask and pop donations up to the hall. See more

In about an hour, our hard working group had 2 very full feed bags of fresh garlic ready for the Food Hub truck...we also held back enough of the best bulbs for... seed to grow even more next year (the pic shows it tied and drying in my drive shed)...it seemed pretty easy to ensure social distancing. A couple of weeks ago, Krista took the scapes to the Kincardine and Walkerton food banks. It was so nice to do some volunteer work as a group...thanks to everyone for your commitment to improve food security in our region! You made a difference today... Great news! But...we need your help...this fresh garlic went to the Kincardine food bank this week, and there is so much more to be harvested...can you help? La...st year we had a couple hundred pounds of fresh garlic, and it was a fun team effort...let’s do it again...the food banks really need this garlic! Monday 9 am (the regional food bank truck is picking up at noon) This will be a social distancing style harvest...group size 10...please personal message Tom Franklin so that the group size requirement can be respected. Thanks for volunteering! Chalmers Community Garden Destination...local food banks Monday 9 am
