Have you ever accidentally created a science experiment? Because we did that yesterday! We had our monthly membership workshop in Chamelea last friday. The theme this month was Why Do We Call Earth a Blue Planet?. We did lots of exciting science experiments like creating your own ocean in a flask, made jellyfish using chemical reactions with liquid glass and different salts, and of course, we investigated the density of salty water by using eggs?! (FYI the denser/saltier th...e water, the better the eggs float). However, thanks to our young curious scientists Shenny and Alice we took it further, and we cracked the eggs into our salty ocean. Little did we know that they would discover a new way to make jellyfish (using only household materials here folks). Jellyfish at home : 1 clear glass or container 1 cup of water 2 - 3 tablespoons of salt 1 or 2 drops of blue food colouring 1 raw egg Instructions: Add the water, food colour, and salt into your class or container, and start mixing vigorously. Once the salt is dissolved, crack the egg into the glass. Observe the jellyfish you have swimming in your kitchen! If you try this at home send us a picture or let us know, as we'd love to share the discoveries that little scientists make on our page!

Today we would like to share our observations for the first one and a half weeks of the camp. This is certainly not an ordinary camp due to all health regulations, starting with the fact that we cannot hug a child, ask for high five, and of course have to strictly monitor the distance. But with the appropriate organization of the day, we can say that everyone is gradually getting used to it: both we and the children. On the other hand, the camp is still unusual because the ch...ildren did not come as always after the end of the school year, but spent almost 4 months at home. And this is probably much more significant than the new regulations. It was very interesting for us to observe how this can manifest itself. It is clear that it is much harder for children to part with their parents in the morning; it is clear that everyone is unaccustomed to get up early and therefore those who can afford it come later. But what we will tell you now is certainly not a surprise, but to be honest we just did not expect to see how much this will manifest itself. Our day is very busy in the camp. First of all, since the camp is scientific, then we are certainly experimenting a lot. Each day has its own theme (dinosaurs, space, scientific potions, living world, and famous heroes) and we do scientific experiments, art and craft projects, and prepare delicious snacks related to the theme of the day. Children are all very interested and they literally swallow all the information. But it’s almost impossible to tearing them apart from the Imagination Playground those are big blue blocks from which you can build everything that is only limited by your imagination. These blocks have been in our center for 2 years and during this time a huge number of children who celebrated birthdays in Chamelea, schools, camps and kindergartens that came to Field Trips, built from these blocks. You can believe us that children's fantasy truly has no boundaries and we have seen real masterpieces during this time. Children have always been madly in love with building from these blocks, but what is built over these one and a half weeks and the passion with which children build is really impressive. It seems that all the accumulated imagination for 4 months just breaks out and the children have missed so much just to play. But play not through the screen, they missed creative play. We are extremely happy to give them this opportunity in our Summer Camp. Here is just a creation from this week’s camp. See more
