As a parent supporting your child through recovery it can be helpful to practice recognizing your own hunger and fullness cues. On this weeks youtube episode we discuss the topic of hunger and fullness cues during eating disorder recovery and the process of using mechanical eating to help regain these cues. Note that in eating disorder recovery over a long time the body may start to ignore these hunger cues. In recovery we stress continuing to eat, even through the fe...eling of fullness. Through mechanical eating we are making sure that we provide our bodies with what it needs when it needs it, so that our body can can regain trust again and eventually those hunger and fullness cues will be restored and you can start back to normal eating! For a parent and carer wanting to practice using the scale: Before, during and after a meal take note of where you sit on the hunger scale. This can help you start to become mindful in listening to what your body needs! See more

2 DAYS LEFT TO JOIN As a parent supporting your child through eating disorder recovery are you feeling... - Tired and burnt out?... - Frustrated, scared, and exhausted? - Unsure of how to help your child? I believe that parents and carers shouldn’t have to shoulder all the burden on their own. Every parent and carer I work with starts there too. All of my clients have said they felt stuck, guilty, and afraid before connecting with me. They feel stuck and are at a loss for what to do. The Parent EmpowerED program was created to help empower parents to learn how to support your child in eating disorder recovery without burning out. As well, to provide you with the knowledge, tools and confidence, so you can help your child take their life back from the eating disorder and reach their full potential. If you want to learn more about the program head to the link in our bio and from there, click on the parent program tab for more details about the program and supporting your child through eating disorder recovery. We recognize that getting your child to eat is one of the MOST challenging steps on the journey to eating disorder recovery. Day 3 of our free 5-day workshop First, Do No Harm is all about making it easier for your child to eat. One of the main strategies we talk about is meal support, a strategy that provides structure and support around mealtimes to soften anxiety and make it easier for your child to complete their meals. For a more in-depth explanation, click the link in bio to sign up and watch a recording of today’s live session
