Training self-compassion . Anyone who meets Lili tells me how much she's like me . She's adorable. Loves people and the outdoors. She's funny and intelligent... . She's sensitive and O' so very anxious . Taking care of her has taught me a lot about how to take care of myself . Sometimes people tell me I need to "work harder" and "train her better" so she's not as anxious. It's annoying . The thing is, we do work on it and I've been training her daily. ... What more can I possibly humanly do? So I hold her and say . "My angel, you are so loving and sweet. It is not your fault you are so anxious. I'm here for you. We'll figure it out together. But even if you stay just the way you are for the rest of your life, my love for you will never stop growing." . Then I realize, I do the same for me . I talk to myself like others talk to me about Lili..." I should work harder on my anxiety. Do better. Do more. Try harder. If I'm anxious, it's because I've done something wrong." ... But what if I didn't do anything wrong? What if I did everything right and STILL get anxious. What if I stay like this for the rest of my life? ... Can I love myself just the same? . Can my love for my anxious self keep growing? . Hmm . This is one of multiple ways to train Self-compassion. . To look at the gentleness and unconditional love we offer others (human/animal/tree /sentient being) . And see if we can apply that same gentleness towards ourselves . I feel like I "failed" at resting . The circle teaches us there are no beginnings nor endings. No part more important then another. All are interconnected . When we neglect our bodies, the whole system becomes unwell.... . When we neglect our friends& family, we feel something is missing . When our hearts ache, we feel it difficult to concentrate at work. . This week, I will focus on my body and rest. It is often difficult for me to rest. Maybe I don't quite know how to do it yet. I find it difficult because if I rest, I just have more to do the next day which isn't restful at all. . My week is filled with work for my masters. My weekend is filled with housework like cleaning, grocery shopping, making food for the week. And then it is so important for me to spend time with friends & family. . That's why I took last Monday off. And am taking today (Monday) off again. . Last week my focus was also rest, but I don't feel rested. . In some ways, I feel like I "failed" at resting because I'm still here. *She says laughing and crying at the same time* . Anyway, I will try again this week and water my intention. . Sleepy baby . Last week I was feeling on fire Still lavishing in the lingering energy of the full moon .... This week I'm curling in Sleeping more Taking time to recharge . Loving ourselves . It took me years to learn how to love myself . Yesterday, I surprised myself when I told someone else "I am motivated to this thing because I love myself so much"... . What surprised me was the "so much". . Not just, love myself... But so much?! Wow. My past self dreamt of this version of me . One affirmation that really helps me to put this self-love into action . "What can I today to make tomorrow better?" . Out of love for myself and desire to have a good day tomorrow, I will often do a few extra things to make the next day easier . Finish the dishes. Take out the trash. Make a salad dressing. Vacuum. Start a grocery list. Shave my legs. Cleanup my desk. . Love is nurtured in the most simple things .
