IG Takeover with Ana Pompa Alarcon May 25th on @charlas.ca Ana is the founder of Find Sisterhood. FindSisterhood is a platform that creates safe online spaces for everyone in need of sisterhood. It is a tool that allows people to be vulnerable and their most authentic selves. We use an empathy formula to foster compassion among the community members that we developed together with vulnerability experts, psychologists, and data scientists. We use trigger warnings and allow our community members to filter out content that they don't want to see to protect their mental health. Topics such as sexual abuse, gun violence, or COVID-19.

On Monday I started #ActionTakersChallenge with @vancitybusinessbabes and my first challenge is to introduce myself and share why I initiated this platform! Y'all ready? First of all my name is Gabriela or Gaby for short. I am from Vancouver, Canada and where our platform is based. So a sincere welcome to our followers from the USA and other countries! I have worked in community and prevention work in the school sector for 7+ years and have always had a heart for people a...nd community. Being Hispanic-Canadian and of immigrant parents taught me various lessons on sacrifice, humbleness and adversity. However, growing up in Canada gave me the opportunity to appreciate life and it's richness of diversity (absolutely love). Fast forward integrating myself in the community sector I realized that there was a lack of Hispanic representation and when I encountered fellow latinos they expressed the same thing. Upon dissecting this common theme I asked myself a lot of questions and realized there was a lack of accesible resources and support for our community or a platform for first generation latinos or new immigrants where we could all come together. Delving more into this theme I admired how other ethnic communities supported eachother and really integrated community in the work they did personally and professionally speaking. I could really write an essay on my WHY but to keep it as consice as I can, I saw a LACK OF and really wanted to create a safe space where our community is empowered, represented and supported. My end goal is to create a REAL sense of community over competition and help you feel represented and supported to aspire and achieve your wildest dreams that in the end really are attainable. Whether you are local (BC/Canada), our neighbour (USA) or overseas we welcome you and as time passes we hope to help you on your personal journey of growth and success. Beyond this I hope this platform is represented by all Hispanics/latinos where we embrace our cultural differences rather than creating a sense of superiority. Our countries are beautiful and WE ALL have something wonderful to share. Let's grow together and support one another. See more
