For US Social Workers: I’ve just learned about Campaign School for Social Workers for those who are interested in politics/running for office in the US. They have virtual weekend trainings at very low cost. Please consider sharing with social workers you know. ... Char https://noncredit.temple.edu//publicCourseSearchDetails.do

Many Canadians have watched the trauma caused by misinformation based hate in the US for the past 4 years. We’ve seen what kind of violence disinformation campaigns can foster. We’ve celebrated recent wins for truth and equality with hope to see ongoing action to stop systemic oppression and racial violence. Canada is facing its own danger from conspiracy theory and fear mongering ad campaigns designed to divide us and create votes for the conservatives/libertarians. We ne...ed to actively address the manipulative and deceitful messages being targeted towards certain Canadians. I’m hopeful this project will contribute to that. Check it out if you’re interested. Democracy is not guaranteed. We need to take collective action to ensure we keep it. https://www.facebook.com/ProtectingCanadaProject/

I’ve chatted before about taking up jigsaw puzzling a couple of years ago as part of my Sustainable Caring practice. Helping professionals often take home the stories and pain they encounter while helping humans. Puzzles can help people be very mindful and focused, which stops the repetitive thoughts about all the suffering and with that, reduces stress. ... This newer company Apostrophe Puzzles is not currently shipping internationally, so I can’t order a puzzle, but I certainly will be once it is an option. The images are created by a diverse group of artists representing diverse races and cultures, which is very rare and nice to see in jigsaw puzzles! For those in the US who like, or want to try jigsaw puzzles, check it out. Also, their IG videos make me giggle - if you puzzle and watch the one about the last piece you will agree 100%:) https://www.apostrophepuzzles.com

If you have been nervous about the election - here is a great video from Biden/Harris lawyers. They've got this:). Exhale. And even if he still tries to illegally steal power, a massive collective economic disruption would happen to stop it - no civil war necessary. ... But still stay safe in the streets until it's all over. And help get the 2 Georgia senate seats so Biden/Harris can take off running. #readytowork4ga https://www.pscp.tv/w/1jMJgpgYqMlxL

All hands on deck for the Georgia Senate race, everybody! I’m going be organizing a fundraiser soon to support Georgia Democrats, and I’ll be sharing some more ...information then, but just for now: here are some very important dates for Georgia voters to keep in mind. Control of the US Senate is what’s at stake here, so it’s a big deal. Please follow at @staceyabrams for more info about this important race, and also because she is a phenomenal leader and a great, great American. More to come, but I just wanted to share this info See more

Dr. Shanna Kattari's recently published paper on alternatives to incarceration in Social Work practice is very interesting for specific interventions. Please read article before criticizing the term "Defund the Police" as it is very different from how the media has been describing it for the last 7 months - it doesn't mean get rid of all police. This research fits well with Biden's recent announcement for more social workers, mental health counselors and nurses in educati...on. I hope Canadian Provinces follow his lead! Shanna's website is: http://www.shannakattari.com/ Here is the article: http://d-scholarship.pitt.edu//JPHS_Defund%20the%20Police_
