This is very concerning and upsetting to me, both as an advisor and simply as a person who has been dealing with the struggles mental illness. I was on medication for over 3 years. I still have the prescription just in case. I see a psychiatrist every 3 months and I've worked hard to recently get off medication. I still have my struggles and some days are better then others but at no point should obtaining life insurance, the most selfless gift that someone could buy ever add... to those daily struggles. I'm proud to be where I am today, I'm proud to be a financial advisor who's advice, compassion and understanding comes from real life experience and on that note, I'm proud to offer Canada Protection Plan (CPP) for situations exactly like this and for those of us who have taken that hardest step towards healing through diagnosis and treatment.
