We're taking table bookings for our annual Christmas Craft Fair until October 22nd. Call to book soon, we're selling out fast! You can book only by phone: (250) 559-4792 Reminder that the fair is for vendors that sell handmade items. This year things are going to look quite a bit different due to COVID-19. Health & safety of the community is our top priority. We need the whole Community of Haida Gwaii to come together to be responsible and respectful during the events, fr...om physical distancing, to hand-hygiene, to staying home if you are not well. We will be doing screening upon registration and at entry. Dates: November 7, 14, and 28. Vendors: 25 vendors per day. Entry will be limited to 20 people every half hour to maximize attendance. We will have 5 staff managing flow and entry. Seating: No indoor seating. There will be a waiting area arranged in one of our smaller rooms for those needing shelter and outdoor tents. However, with time slot registration for each person, we hope to avoid a line-up. Masks: Required. Entry: $5/person, with entry to a 50/50 draw of registration fees at the end of the day. Children count as 1 person in our limit; if you can, please keep them at home. Haida Gwaii Recreation will be assisting in registration for entry this year by the public. More details to come in October. Haawa from us all for your patience, support, and overall enthusiasm! If you're interested in volunteering to help with set-up, take-down or managing entry, message this page or let Reine know when you call. In some ways, this may be the least congested (and most accessible) Craft Fair you'll have ever seen! We hope it can still be fun & that you'll all come out (safely) to support local this holiday season. - QC Community Club

Important Public Service Announcements: The Community Club is opening the field for use for humans and dogs. We ask that everyone observe social distancing until it’s not needed anymore - so don’t play tag. ... The club also asks dog owners to pick up after pets - right away. We’ll be walking the field and will close it to all dogs if we find any droppings. Don’t let your dog ruin it for all the other dogs. The playground is still closed. The building is still closed. Farmers Market may be resuming at the covered kiosk this weekend. Hip-hooray!

VIRL is offering 24/7 wifi for library patrons to connect to outside their doors. We have still closed the community club premises for group gatherings. But recognize Internet as an essential service, especially during this time. Please practice social distancing and be mindful of others.

Hello everyone! What a crazy few weeks. We just want to touch base about our operations to keep you all in the loop. We have closed ALL of our facilities in an effort to keep our messaging clear to the public: we do not want group gatherings on our premises. We came to this conclusion for a few reasons. Unless alternative arrangements are found, we don't have capacity in our volunteer board or our staffing to enforce or clean the facilities. Many of us are in self-isolation o...r taking care of loved ones. It's just not within our capacity at this time. We have cleaned the spaces before locking up, should they be needed for emergency purposes. Since we do have essential services established on the premise (child care facility for essential service workers & farmers market) we have had to make arrangements with those specific tenants. You may see children at the child centre next week. For inquiries, please contact their society or the Village of Queen Charlotte. The farmers market vendors are going to be located across the street. For inquiries, please contact their group or the Village of Queen Charlotte. We wish you all good health and we hope you're practicing social distancing, hand hygiene, and still staying connected with your loved ones. If you have any questions about the other facilities, please reach out to us.

I just wanted to update everyone on the status of our softball league this year. Obviously things have been changing rapidly and every day people are being mor...e and more responsible on self isolation and quarantining themselves. Although my hope is that activities will be able to resume and our softball season will start on time it is more likely that things will be delayed. The good news Haida Gwaii, is that we have time to wait this out. Traditionally our season has been a Spring one but this year perhaps it will last into the Summer or even into the Fall. I urge everyone to use acceptable social distancing, so please don't hold team practices until we are through this. Stay strong Haida Gwaii! We will get through this soon enough. Cairns
