Gary, the progress he has made is amazing. I am very proud to have helped Gary and his family to be in a better place. When I first met Gary, he was so toxic th...at I felt it through the leash and deep in my stomach. I felt for him and his family. He was so toxic that I even saw something I had never seen in Koda. It was hard to see, although he had a great foundation, mentally he needed so much more. We started slow, we built up so much between him and his handlers. Even simple body pressure by his handler would trigger displacement behaviour. We had a lot of work a head of us, and his handlers put in so much work. It’s not easy to hear that this may be Gary’s last hope. It’s not about obedience, or correction, or punishment. I tapped into Gary, what he was feeling, how he was feeling, and I built his program around him. Gary was intense with other dogs, more then I have seen in a long time. His MO was to move forward, and use his mouth to eliminate what he perceived as a threat. His reacting was so intense, I am pretty sure I saw his tongue turn blue. After working in private lessons, I saw Gary was ready for the next step. Gary was making better choices, his intensity had significantly changed. I decided for him, it was time to come into the kennel setting and get him to the next stage. Acceptance. I had high hopes, and I’ll be honest, there was some tears in my eyes when he actually engaged in play. I almost couldn’t believe it myself. We have nick named him Gar Bear, and he is now starring in his own film

The rain made for a nice calm and relaxing day here at the Wilderness Camp Socialization is not always about play, learning how to just be and just relax is also an important part of learning how to dog
