Getting the Right Care the First Time this Holiday Season CHATHAM-KENT: December 21, 2020 -- The holiday season is typically one of the busiest times of the year for our paramedics and emergency room teams and statistics show a higher than average number of patients whose conditions are non-urgent for an illness which could have been more appropriately managed by other community health care providers. As we approach the upcoming holiday season, Chatham-Kent EMS and Chatham-Ke...nt Health Alliance would like to remind everyone of the alternative services available in the community that can quickly and effectively treat non-urgent illnesses such as coughs, colds, ear infections, sore throats, and sprained limbs. These alternative options include: self- care at home, calling Telehealth Ontario (1-866-797-0000), going to a walk-in clinic, or visiting a local pharmacist. Below are a list of programs and services available over the holiday season to assist in care for non- urgent illnesses: http://ckfht.ca//Media-Release-Getting-Care-in-the-Right-P

Oct 15 is Global Handwashing Day. One of the most effective ways to help stop the spread of COVID-19 is also one of the simplest: wash your hands with soap and water thoroughly and often. bit.ly/3iYeMnt

Are you being asked for a note for work or school regarding COVID symptoms? The Ontario Government and Local Health Units have been clear that requiring a physician note is not appropriate as it is not a good use of our health care system and physicians cannot be filling their schedule with healthy children who just need a note to return to school, a sport or activity or healthy adults needing a note to return to work. Please use these attestation forms https://content.oma.org//OMA-COVID-Clearance-Attestation-F If you are not sure about your symptoms or what to do - use this tool https://covid-19.ontario.ca/school-screening If you are still not sure, then give us a call!
