Locked In Chatham Escape Room

Very rarely in life do we have opportunities of greatness, do we get to live a passion or even be a part of something special...... Well we did!!! Locked In started four years ago this coming Mother’s Day. I remember the long nights after working all day building the store from a roughly 2000 square foot empty room ... with a concrete floor to the finished product that we have today. And oh man if those walls could talk! Has anyone out there ever tried to put together something like that with your wife and friends and not just about lost your mind. We fought, we cried, we laughed, we built, and then we did it all again. Through the years we tried to change the rooms as much as needed and I’ll admit not all rooms were a hit but we sure tried. And after the room was done the anxiety would get to me so bad I couldn’t stick around, praying that the first few groups that went through loved it and then I could come out from hiding! And for the most part the responses were very positive! The first few months was just Kelly and I but it wasn’t long before we needed help and along came Sydnee Brooks. We’ve had a few employees come and go over the years but Sydnee Brooks and Clair Boughner have been here for the long haul and recently we added Sydnee’s sister Megan Brooks and my own flesh and blood Hanna Schleihauf. These employees have become like family, well, the ones that weren’t already. These last four years have been incredible, to say the least, so it is with profound sadness that we announce the potential end of Locked In on April 19 2020. As it stands our lease expires at the end of April and after great debate we have decide to not renew. This decision does not come lightly and without heartache but we leave knowing that we brought happiness to many people. Families became closer, employees learned about each other and friendships were strengthened. We loved every minute of it and we will carry the memories with us the rest of our lives. We say potential end as we would love to find someone to carry the torch from here. While we are looking to leave for personal reasons, I’m certain there is still life left in the escape room business. Sorry this post is so long but in closing I want to say Thank You to our friends and family, our staff and their families, any contractors who were a part of the build of the rooms, you Chatham Kent and our fans from around the world. Thanks for the ideas and support and for allowing us to live out our dreams, it’s been an amazing experience. We hope you had as much fun as we did!
