Are you thinking about quitting smoking cigarettes? Here are three facts that might help you make the final decision to quit: 1. In addition to nicotine, the tobacco smoke from a cigarette contains 7,000+ chemicals. 2. Once the smoke enters your lungs, the chemicals enter your bloodstream and are distributed to your entire body. 3. You’ll start feeling better within 24 hours of quitting smoking.... Quitting smoking is the best thing that you can do to improve your health and overall lifestyle. For help, speak with our pharmacists at Chatham Family Pharmacy. There may be smoking cessation products and solutions available to help you in your journey to quit smoking for good.

2020/2021 Flu Shot Update To our patients and members of the community. We would like to provide an update on this season's flu shot program. As many are aware, it has been a challenging year as we are faced with a high demand for flu shots and a limited supply. We are very fortunate to be part of this community, and for the patience and understanding of those who continue to wait for vaccine availability. We would also like to thank everyone for embracing our infection preve...ntion controls and appointment based system. The Ontario Ministry of Health and Long Term Care has announced measures intended to help relieve the current supply shortages: they have approved and funded the FluMist live-attenuated influenza nasal spray for individuals aged 2 to 59. We will be obtaining FluMist as it becomes available and will be offering it to anyone who is eligible. We ask anyone who remains on our waiting list or who still wants a flu shot and qualifies for the FluMist to consider it instead. This will help relieve current shortages and hopefully free up available doses of the quadrivalent flu shot for those who are ineligible for FluMist. We appreciate your understanding and are fortunate to serve a community that has shown we have the ability to work together and help each other through difficult times. -Your Team at CFP

It's that time of year again, cold and flu season. With the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, it is of utmost importance that we take measures to protect ourselves and our loved ones against the flu. For Canadians who are six months of age and older, the flu shot is the best defence. Not only can it help to protect you if you are exposed to the virus, but it can also protect those closest to you by stopping the spread. To book your flu shot appointment, follow the link below. https://www.bookmyshot.com/flu/5193972324 #bookmyshot#flushot#pharmacy#rxhealthmed#flu

Did you know that many years ago, pharmacies were originally called apothecaries? Apothecaries manufactured and dispensed medicine until early in the 21st century, when the term pharmacy gained popularity. https://www.thecanadianencyclopedia.ca//history-of-medicine #RxHealthMed #Pharmacy #RxHealthMedCanada #PharmacistsCare #CommunityPharmacy #YourPharmacy #RxHM #RxHM #LoveMyPharmacy #LocalPharmacy

Easter Weekend Business Hours at Chatham Family Pharmacy: Friday April 10: Closed Saturday April 11: 9am to 1pm Sunday April 12: Closed Monday April 13: 8am to 6pm
For the time being we will all need to do our part to protect the medication supply chain. At Chatham Family Pharmacy we are following advice of provincial and federal authorities and limiting to 30 day refills of medications with only some rare exceptions.
Weve taken more steps to adhere to physical distancing best practices all in an effort to protect ourselves and our patients. We have acquired acrylic barriers for all patient contact points. It also turns out our pharmacy was already designed with physical distancing/privacy in mind. Our planter of ferns helps patients stay 2m apart while dropping off a prescription.
We are always here for your healthcare needs. We can offer no-contact delivery if needed. Call 519-397-2324 for more information.

There are some concerns and reports that ibuprofen and other commonly used anti-inflammatories may worsen COVID-19 illness. So far there is not enough scientific data to support these reports. If you take anti-inflammatories regularly for arthritis or another pain condition do not stop your medication until seeking health advice. Both acetaminophen and ibuprofen are still recommended for pain and fever. As always, you can call and speak to our knowledgeable pharmacist if you have any questions or concerns.
