Our year-end campaign ends today! We know that health has been everyone’s main priority this year. The past few months have reminded us of how important it equip children from more vulnerable areas with the proper tools to adopt a healthy lifestyle and to get more active on their own. Our support to the Fondation du Père Raymond-Bernier was so natural and aligned with our desire to get underprivileged children across the province moving! Thanks to our donation, the ÉTU-ACTIF program was extended to all 6 Les PATRO in Quebec and allowed kids to partake in a supervised study sessions followed by some physical activity! Only 2 days left until we reach the finish line of our year-end campaign! Did you know that in Quebec, 43% of children aged 5 to 14 living with a disability do not participate in any sport or physical activity on a weekly basis? Youth from low-income families are half as likely to have access to recreational activities geared to their needs than children from better-off households, in part because of the high registration costs. That is one of the reasons motivating us to h...elp organizations that get all children active, regardless of their disability, like Répit Loisirs Autonomie. Our donation last spring allowed them to build a motricity and sensory room in their brand new respite home located in Mont-Joli, in Bas-Saint-Laurent, that houses people living with physical and intellectual disabilities, or an autism spectrum disorder (ASD). Saviez-vous qu’au Québec, 43% des jeunes de 5 à 14 ans ayant une incapacité ne pratiquent aucune activité physique ou sportive sur une base hebdomadaire? Les enfants de familles à faible revenu sont deux fois moins nombreux à avoir accès à des activités de loisirs adaptés que les enfants issus de ménages plus fortunés, notamment en raison des coûts d’inscription élevés. C’est une des rais...ons qui nous motive à venir en aide aux organismes qui font bouger tous les enfants, peu importe leur handicap, comme Répit Loisirs Autonomie, situé à Mont-Joli, dans le Bas-Saint-Laurent. Notre don du printemps dernier leur a permis d’aménager une salle de motricité et sensorielle dans leur toute nouvelle maison de répit, qui accueille des personnes vivant avec une déficience intellectuelle, physique, ou un trouble du spectre de l'autisme (TSA). Remembrance Day Let's take a few minutes today to commemorate the sacrifices of those brave Canadians who risked their lives while defending our rights and freedoms.
