HOCKEY NOVA SCOTIA UPDATE ON PUBLIC HEALTH RESTRICTIONS Good afternoon everyone, We want to let you all know that earlier today, the province extended the restrictions announced on Dec. 16 for an additional two weeks. That means that the current restrictions (outlined in earlier emails below) will remain in effect until 11:59 p.m. on Jan. 24.... Compared to other areas of the country, we know our players are fortunate to be able to practice with their teammates. However, we also know that many of our members are extremely disappointed that they are not yet able to play games. We have been in regular contact with Public Health while these restrictions have been in place and we will continue to advocate on behalf of our membership. We are confident in our Rebound Plan. We have made it clear to the government that we want to get our teams back to playing games as soon as possible. We will continue to express this to the province on your behalf. Thank you all for your continued cooperation. Yours in hockey, Arnie Farrell President Hockey Nova Scotia Amy Walsh Executive Director Hockey Nova Scotia

HOCKEY NOVA SCOTIA UPDATE ON NEW RESTRICTIONS TO REDUCE SPREAD OF COVID-19 Earlier today, the provincial government announced new restrictions in the Halifax R...egional Municipality (HRM) and across the province that will affect our game. Out of an abundance of caution, Hockey Nova Scotia has made the decision to enact these new restrictions as of 12:01 a.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 25, one day earlier than the province will put them into effect. These restrictions will continue for two weeks until midnight Dec. 9, with a possibility of extension. Nova Scotians are being asked to avoid travel in and out of western and central HRM (which is defined as HRM from Hubbards to, and including, Porters Lake and the communities up to Elmsdale and Mount Uniacke in Hants County. For boundaries, please visit: https://novascotia.ca/coronavirus/county-restrictions/). In western and central HRM, organized sports, recreational, and athletic activities have been paused. Outside of western and central HRM, sports teams have been restricted to local or regional play only. WHAT DOES THIS MEAN FOR HOCKEY? Teams within western and central HRM Today’s announcement means that the following hockey associations will be shut down, beginning at 12:01 a.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 25, until midnight Dec. 9: Metro East Inferno Female Hockey Association, Metro West Force Female Hockey Association, Halifax Hawks Minor Hockey Association, Dartmouth Whalers Minor Hockey Association, East Hants Minor Hockey Association, Cole Harbour Bel Ayr Minor Hockey Association, Bedford and District Minor Hockey Association, Sackville Minor Hockey Association, Eastern Shore Minor Hockey Association, TASA Minor Hockey Association, and the Chebucto Minor Hockey Association. Players who live in western and central HRM Players who live in western and central HRM and play within the associations listed above are not permitted to play while these restrictions are in effect. We are aware that some players live in western and central HRM but play on teams that are based outside of this designated area. These players are also not permitted to participate in any Hockey Nova Scotia-sanctioned activities (including practices, training sessions, or games with their teams) while these restrictions are in effect. Players who live outside of western and central HRM Players living outside of western and central HRM will be allowed to continue to participate in Hockey Nova Scotia-sanctioned activities while these restrictions are in effect. However, there are some exceptions and restrictions. Players who reside in a health zone and play hockey for a team based in the same health zone will be allowed to continue participating in Hockey Nova Scotia-sanctioned activities within that health zone. For example, a team from the Glace Bay Minor Hockey Association would be permitted to play against a team from the Cape Breton County Minor Hockey Association. A team from the Glace Bay Minor Hockey Association would not be permitted to play against a team from the Pictou County Minor Hockey Association. However, a player who lives in one health zone but plays with a team based in another health zone would not be permitted to take part in Hockey Nova Scotia-sanctioned activities (including practices, training sessions, or games with their teams) with their team while these restrictions are in effect. For a map of the four provincial health zones, please visit: http://www.cdha.nshealth.ca/node/20735 Officials and coaches These restrictions also apply to officials and coaches. Officials and coaches who live in western and central HRM will not be permitted to participate in any Hockey Nova Scotia-sanctioned activities while these restrictions are in effect. Officials and coaches who live outside western and central HRM will be allowed to continue to participate in Hockey Nova Scotia-sanctioned activities while these restrictions are in effect. However, there are some exceptions and restrictions. Officials and coaches will be permitted to continue participating in Hockey Nova Scotia-sanctioned activities within the health zone in which they reside. For example, an official from the Cape Breton West Minor Hockey Association would be permitted to officiate at a game hosted by the Strait-Richmond Minor Hockey Association. However, an official or coach who lives in one health zone will not be allowed to coach a team or officiate a game in another health zone. For a map of the four provincial health zones, please visit: http://www.cdha.nshealth.ca/node/20735 WE ARE ALL IN THIS TOGETHER Hockey Nova Scotia will work with our leagues and scheduling bodies to see how schedules can be revised to operate within the parameters of these new restrictions. We will also provide a breakdown of each health zone’s hockey associations to our members later this week. Since the COVID-19 pandemic began, we have worked closely with Public Health. We have used the guidelines and advice of Public Health officials to build our return plan. Throughout this process, safety has always been our top priority. We fully support today’s decision. This is a difficult and challenging time for everyone, but we encourage you to remember that we are all in this together. Please continue to practice proper hygiene and physical distancing and stay home if you are unwell. Respect the Public Health guidelines. Most importantly, be kind to one another. We hope to be back playing the game we love across the province as soon as it is safe to do so again.

Hello CMHA Members, There was a public health announcement today that stated that organized sports, recreational, athletic, arts and cultural activities, faith-based activities will be paused. These new restrictions will come into force at 12:01 a.m. on Thursday, Nov. 26, and continue for two weeks until midnight Dec. 9, with a possibility of extension. In light of this announcement, CMHA HAS DECIDED TO PAUSE ALL OF OUR ASSOCIATIONS HOCKEY EVENTS EFFECTIVE IMMEDIATELY.... This means that all on and off ice team events (practices, games, dry land training, etc.) for every competitive and recreational CMHA team, U7 and above, as well as association run events (Keepers Club, Junior Coach Leadership Program) are not to occur until we provide further guidance based on HNS and Public Health Directives. At this time, you can continue to fundraise using our on-line 50-50 platform as well as any other non contact fundraising events your team has organized (selling raffle tickets virtually, etc.) There are to be no in person or team fundraising gatherings at this time. We will keep you updated as more info is known to us. Thank you for your understanding. Sincerely, The CMHA Board

Holiday Message December 21, 2020 Good Evening Chebucto Families, As we begin our return to Hockey practices this week, I felt the need to reach out. This hockey season has had it challenges, but yet our CHMA Board and all of you have been so understanding and supportive. I am very proud to be a part of this hockey community and will continue to persevere.... No one could have predicted a season like this, or how to prepare and navigate through all the restrictions and protocols. Rebound plans, Safety reps, facility protocols, certification of all teams and staff, financial impacts, inclusivity, many meetings and innovative ways for our younger players to get on the ice..the list goes on. Yet, many have stepped upat the board level and as a community. Over the coming weeks and months, myself and the CMHA Board will continue to do everything we can to provide the best experience for our Hockey community. I hope all of you can take some time to enjoy the Holidays and be thankful that we can continue to participate and play the game we love. While it may look different and not have the same feel as in previous years, I think it is more important to remember that we are all in this together and working toward the same goal. I want to thank and commend the CMHA Board for all of their time and commitment to the 2020-2021 Season so far. I also want to thank all of you for your support and understanding as we continue to navigate through the season. I wish you all Happy Holidays and a very Prosperous New Year! Good evening everyone, Please see the following info from HNS.. We wanted to pass along some information that will help clarify what today’s government announcement meant for our hockey community. Please be advised there are no changes to hockey activities at this time.... While the province did announce some changes impacting gathering limits in the Halifax Regional Municipality, there are no travel restrictions affecting travel into or out of Halifax. There is no reason for teams to avoid travel to the Halifax Regional Municipality or to refuse to host teams from the area. At this time, there are no concerns with COVID-19 spread in the hockey community. As well, there are no changes to the rule of 50 on the field of play. Groups of 50 can continue to be on the field of play without physical distancing. This includes players, officials, coaches, instructors, and anyone else who is required to be on or near the ice surface, team benches, penalty box, timekeeper box, and dressing rooms. Any changes to the rules for hockey and other sports will be communicated by public health. While hockey is safe, we need to remain vigilant. We need to continue to follow the public health guidelines, as well as the Rebound Plan. Thank you for your continued support and cooperation. It is greatly appreciated. Yours in Hockey, Amy Walsh Executive Director Hockey Nova Scotia
