COVID-19 Update # 2 CSO Friends & Family, After reviewing the updates provided by the Nova Scotia Health Authority this morning, it is with great sadness that we announce that all remaining concerts in our 2019/2020 season have been cancelled (March 21st, 2020 & May 14th, 2020). While we recognize that the risk remains low in Nova Scotia, we felt that this decision was important to support our community. It also aligns with the direction given by the Nova Scotia Health Author...ity to limit gatherings of over 150 people. We thank everyone for their continued support and we look forward to seeing everyone again in our 2020/2021 season in the fall. We will continue to post updates on our website and social media channels.

Our Goodwill Bot will look a little different this year, so here's a highlight from 2017 The CSO will receive $1 from every Good Robot beer sold tomorrow, Monday, June 29th. You can visit their shop at 2736 Robie Street or order online at www.goodrobotbrewing.ca

For the last couple of summers the orchestra has been able to participate in a fundraiser hosted by the Good Robot Brewing Company, as part of their 'Goodwill Bot' series. It has been a lot of fun in the past, with performances by small groups of orchestra members who entertain the pub-goers. One dollar from every beer purchased on that day is donated to our organization. This year, Good Robot has kept their Goodwill Bot fundraising going through their online sales. They have... only partially opened (Thursday - Sunday for now), so their taproom isn't open on Monday, June 29th, our designated fundraising day, but we can still take advantage of this opportunity by ordering beer online. We encourage everyone to put in an order on Monday, and forward the flyer attached and spread the word to your friends and family as well! The process for ordering online is pretty simple at www.goodrobotbrewing.ca . Orders over $40 (excl. tax) have free delivery. You need to get your order in before 7pm for same day delivery. You can also drop by their shop at 2736 Robie St. They now have lots of canned beers as well as growlers. Remember, $1 per beer for a good cause, the Chebucto Symphony Orchestra!

COVID-19 Update CSO Friends & Family, The impact of COVID-19 on large gatherings such as orchestra concerts is becoming increasingly worrisome and continues to have an expanding impact internationally. The CSO has been closely monitoring all available information related to the continued spread of the Novel Coronavirus COVID-19 (coronavirus). The health and safety of our players, conductors, volunteers, and audience members continues to be our top priority.... At this time, the Public Health Agency of Canada has assessed the public health risk associated with COVID-19 as low for the general population in Canada but this could change rapidly, and we will be diligently monitoring all updates from the Nova Scotia Health Authority. Currently we have no confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Nova Scotia. After reviewing the relevant positions from the Nova Scotia Health Authority, there does not appear at this time to be significant enough risk to justify postponing or cancelling the remaining concerts in our 2019/2020 season. Our upcoming Children’s Concert on March 21st, 2020 will continue as scheduled. If there is a need to cancel or postpone shows or events, we will post updates on our website and social media channels. We ask that our community members observe the following guidelines for the health & safety of everyone: - If you are feeling even slightly ill and especially if you have recently travelled please stay at home. - If you have travelled recently, self-monitor for symptoms of COVID-19 (fever, cough or difficulty breathing). Here at the Chebucto Symphony Orchestra we will happily take every opportunity we can to recognize and celebrate the powerful, talented, amazing women who make our organization run and thrive. Our assistant conductor Melissa Doiron has been a driving force in our city amongst many other talented women in creating a new, and better orchestral music scene in Nova Scotia. The Chebucto Symphony Orchestra looks forward to seeing more women on our p...odium. Since 2018 Melissa has been the only female symphony orchestra conductor in Nova Scotia with a permanent renewable contract. Melissa we are inspired by you, and we are greater because of you!

Get those calendars out! Local Drag legend Rouge Fatale will join the Orchestra as narrator for Prokofiev’s classic Peter and the Wolf. The event is admission by donation and all attendees are welcome to join regardless of ability to make a donation.... This will be a groundbreaking collaboration between the LGBTQ+ youth, the community at large, and the orchestral musicians in our city. For us, this collaboration marks the first LGBTQ+ event in the history of Orchestra (45 years) and what we hope is the first of many! You might think what could honestly make this event any better? Well there’s more! This concert will be conducted by our Assistant Conductor Melissa Doiron, and apart from being a fabulously professional and skilled conductor is until recently been the only female symphony orchestra conductor with a permanent renewable contract east of Montreal. As an orchestra, we are so proud to be dynamic with our priorities and our mission for inclusion.
