***POP UP Christmas Jr. Chef Baking Class Ages 11-14 this Sunday, December 13th 1-3pm**** Did you know that when you buy a Gourmet to Go meal from Fan/Joy we are now donating $5 to our Impact Fund to make our Jr. Chef programs available to more youth??! With a busy week, some key supporters from our community and our first community donations arriving we are excited to host a special price for a pop up class this Sunday! Your Jr. Chef can join our guest Chef Maria Hornak and... Chef Pam to whisk up some favourite holiday treats for your friends and family! This will be a one time class and available only to 8 youth in our newly expanded socially distanced culinary studio in Hillsburgh. Registration is on a first come first serve basis with no refunds for no shows and all COVID public health protocols are in place here at Fan/Joy including masks. Don't have a child yourself to send but still want to support our youth? Lots is happening at Fan/Joy these days and an update video to come later today but here are the highlights on the food side of things for this week: THIS WEEKS GOURMET TO GO MEALS for take out, made FRESH & HOT for your pick up in Hillsburgh. PRE-ORDERS by 3PM accepted only and can be made by ordering under our GOURMET TO GO tab online at www.chefpamfanjoy.com or by phoning 519-308-0900 and leaving a message with your name and phone number (in which case an e-transfer mu...st be received for your meals by 5pm that day.) NO PAYMENT TRANSACTIONS WILL BE DONE IN STORE for these meals to allow for us to serve as many customers as possible with limited staff on hand this week. Once ordered and paid for, your meals will be available for pick up between 5 and 6pm with two people only in the shop at a time please. Masks must be worn. All prices will have additional HST on them. THIS WEEKS FEATURES : MEATY LASAGNA on Monday $14 individual & $38 for Family Size serves 4. This will become a monthly training program at Fan/Joy in both Hillsburgh and now also in Guelph starting in 2021. As most of you know, the pandemic has been a very difficult time for small businesses in the area. While the circumstances of COVID-19 were very challenging for me, I was also provided with many incredible opportunities to which I am so grateful for. During my time with Rhyze Ventures, I met and became friends with Carey McClements, owner of Lucy Pearlle. At the most trying time of this pandemic when I felt discouraged and reassessing the future direction of Fan/Joy, Carey ap...proached me with compassion and kindness, and helped transform our restaurant into a new expanded fine foods marketplace here in Hillsburgh. Carey is a visionary, gritty, strong female entrepreneur, as well as a compassionate and devoted friend. I am very glad to know her, and so grateful that our experiences at Rhyze Ventures allowed us to cross paths. Yesterday it was announced that Carey won the People's Choice Award, and I would like to extend my warmest congratulations. Big Announcement! Last night I pitched my Junior Chef Life Skills program and the work being done here at Fan/Joy for the Rhyze Ventures program finale and we won! This program helped a lot of female entrepreneurs rise to be their best selves, and I feel very privileged and grateful to have been a part of it. This win is going to help our marketing initiatives, and also expand and enhance our Junior Chef Life Skills program here in Hillsburgh, and into Guelph. With mental health concerns surging, particularly among 15-24 year olds during the pandemic, we are continuing to build our team of mental health professionals here at Fan/Joy to meet the growing need to offer innovative programs that help youth and families build resiliency and improve their physical, mental and spiritual health. Our team will be taking this 2 day training ourselves on November 7th & 8th as we welcome Tina Gandhi to our team here this fall. I'm delighted ...to work with her again as a valued colleague that I've known for over 20 years in my social work career. We are happy to be able to invite a limited number of mental health professionals, or students, to join us in person, with all COVID protocols in place. Nothing to do today? How about you get out of the house to support a great cause and attend one of my favourite annual fundraisers EMPTY BOWLS, to end hunger hosted by our rather famous local clay artist (and recent illustrator of my book Shooting Stars) Ann Randeraad. This year will be a little different and with recent new COVID restrictions they will be hosting it as a drive through event but you can PURCHASE TICKETS LAST MINUTE ONSITE. You will receive one of Ann's ha...nd thrown masterpiece bowls and your choice of soup from one of 5 local restaurants that are supporting the cause with their donations.
