We did it! Our first week back to work and our first week to daycare. ( How did she get so big?!?!) ... I mean.. it was only three days but it seemed like an whole week away from each other! As you know, I'm not only a photographer but also an occasional elementary teacher. This is rather perfect because I can take on sessions but when I'm not photographing amazing clients, I can work with the little people. This is a great balance for me! ( And this background, my ECe and child development allows me to connect with your little ones so easily!) Anyway we made it. There were tears but in the end everyone did really well and I think a great to be back to some form of a routine. I can already tell that Evie has learned a whole bunch of new skills during her time at daycare including where her nose is her eyes and the word stinky. Haha When I was in ECE always said that daycare was so important for little ones. You can tell those kids that have been in daycare they develop in a different way than those who have been at home with a parent only. Being on the side of the parent now it's hard to be away from her and it's hard to justify spending the money for her to go to daycare and for me to go to work most weeks it's essentially a wash. "Superheros to the rescue!" This is a common theme in our house. These two boys (and often all three kids) pretty much only play superheros or dress up of some kind. I don't even know why we have other toys other than the sole purpose of spreading them out onto every possible surface. I am thankful that ( for the most part) they get along well. This has made COVID lockdowns survivable. ... What is your child's activity of choice?

Dressed up and no where to go has been my motto for the last year... Actually, are PJs or yoga pants considered dressing up? I don't even know anymore. Haha In exactly a week I will be heading back to work a few days a week and my little people will be headed to daycare. ... No matter how many mat leaves you have, you can never anticipate how much anxiety going back to work causes. For me, this time around, there's more. She is my last baby ( truly this time, the last), and well.. COVID... And I just and pure jealous of the fact that someone else gets to hang with her all day... Oh and if course I'm nervous for her too but I know she needs this. It will be good for her! She is ready! We all have little stories or thing people say along the way that you never forget and are always reminded of day after day. For me, it's donuts. Yes donuts. ... When I worked at a daycare many moons ago. After I had my ECE, when I was earning my child youth and family degree and before teachers college. I had the sweetest little bit in my class. ( Rather, I was in his class for the summer) a number if years later I asked his mom how she made him do sweet. She told me the trick to growing a sweet baby boy was double chocolate donuts. Yup. There you have it. I tried this magic and it works!! Twice!! So when I was pregnant for the third time and hoping for girl, I was sure to never touch a double chocolate donut.. but rather opted for sprinkles when given the chance. All this cold weather has me thinking... "Why do we live somewhere so cold?!?" Yes, little girl.. this is how we all feel right now. Like many of you we are juggling three kids at different ages and stages, home school, naps, entertaining a 3-year old that really needs to be socializing in school. I have taken time off to focus on the kids as my grade 1 really isn't independent at school. I worry that I'm helping too much, I worry that I am not helping enough. It's all hard to juggle. I had this plan that Id focus more on my business during this time. G...et my website updated, check in with clients, get all organized... but I am not accomplishing all of it and that's ok. It's hard to even remember to do the basics because life has gotten so busy- yet not busy at all. You know what I mean. I am loving our slow mornings every day- listening to the boys play and get themselves breakfast. I love not having to rush to the bus. I also worry about going back to work and figuring out how I can get three kids and myself out the door. We are adjusting to this life. My baby always waves at pictures and talks to the computer screen (even as I write this, she sits beside me chatting to her picture) It's scary how fast they adapt and how talking to "screens" is normal for these babies. I mean, she's 1, this is all she has known! Somedays I feel just like this picture! It's all so overwhelming most days. But we can do this! I feel lucky that I get to hang out with the kids all day. Happy birthday to this lovely lady! Isn't cool how friendships change and evolve over time and throughout different life events? met tiffany many years ago while my husband worked out at a CrossFit gym. I believe she may have done his initial entry "test".... "evaluation"... Not sure the correct term. Later on, I joined too. Tiffany and I were friendly but never really close friends at the time. Time passed and we each become pregnant, ( me for the third time...) We found ...a bond over the fact that we were both having girls , that we were pregnant at the same time with babies due a week apart. Through this experience I feel like our friendship has grown. It's so cool to see how our little girls also get along! They are excited to see eachother and though they don't play play together yet, they seem to have a bond too and connect more than some babies do to eachother. I am honoured to have captured this special day, moments before your birthday and providing record of of this time when this babe was so wee. Because they are growing way too fast!!! Often it's mom who takes the photo but is too often not in the photo. We must remember to get in the frame from time to time and this doesn't mean just a silly cell phone selfie. ( Though I am very thankful for this cool invention it does make it much easier for mom to capture images of the general day) I am a little bias I admit but I think having good photos to remember theae wild times during motherhood and childhood are so important. It's important for these little kids to be able to see what mom looked like before they can even remember.
