It’s ok to challenge yourself. It’s ok to have goals and want to make changes. It’s tempting to do something drastic to get a lot of results quickly. I get it. But what happens the day after the challenge? Do you have a game plan when it’s done? What happened last time you tried it? Around here we prioritize small changes that you can actually stick to! Why white-knuckle through misery when you can get (slower but permanent) results and enjoy the process. ... Thoughts?

*Gratitude* Tomorrow’s my due date and I’m feeling so thankful for so many reasons. For a healthy pregnancy after loss. For a busy virtual private practice in the midst of a pandemic. For a healthy happy 3 year old who has been so resilient. I don’t take any of it for granted. ... Thank you, from the bottom of my heart. To my husband - my biggest cheerleader, my best friend, who is an equal partner in every way. To my clients - who let me be a part of their health habit changes, who trust me with their nutrition - You inspire me with your progress and you’re the reason I love my job. I can’t wait to touch base in the spring. I’ll be on maternity leave from Nov 15, 2020 to March 13, 2021. Melissa Goldsmith, RD will be holding down the fort while I’m gone - she’s supporting existing clients and accepting new clients too! Book using my contact form on ChelseyLoveNutrition.com. More to come from Chelsey Love Nutrition! I’ll be on here more soon, with a healthy mix of mom life and nutrition content. Plans for 2021 include more 1:1 coaching appointment availability and testing a small group program! So excited for this next chapter. Hopefully I post a birth announcement soon. Hands up if this sounds familiar! You decide to make some changes to your routine. You think I need to eat less sugar. That’s it, no more sweets for 30 days.... You avoid it for a few days, maybe a week. Then you see the ice cream at the grocery store. Your favourite flavour is on sale. You buy some, bring it home, think screw it - I failed again and eat it in front of the TV until you feel sick. Where was the initial mistake made? Did you say, at the grocery store, buying the ice cream? Nope. The mistake is trying to restrict the food 100%. The #1 cause of binging is restriction. When you feel you have no control over chips, it’s because you restrict the chips! A better option? Set boundaries such as: How much you buy (smaller portions vs Big Costco sized packaging) Where you store it (what foods are convenient in your home and what foods take a little bit of effort) How you eat it (are you distracted or eating mindfully? Scarfing it down in the car in secrecy or being present and savouring it? Eating out of the container or making a portioned bowl and putting the rest back? The goal is to take the food off the pedestal. It’s just another food. Setting boundaries feels a lot different than restriction! You can enjoy all foods and still reach your health & weight loss goals. I can help! -DietitianChels See more

This diet worked for me, you should try it! It’s like nails on a chalk board. ... We are all unique. You are not your mom, friend, sibling, or co-worker. You are not your favourite Instagram influencer. You’re not me. I’m not you. We all have unique: privileges bodies genetics goals responsibilities support networks financial barriers amounts of free time medical history & diagnoses injuries medications trauma stress sensitivities, allergies, intolerances lifestyles dieting history preferences One person’s happy eating style is another person’s over-restrictive misery. One person’s favourite exercise is another person’s hell on earth. If you’re asking me what’s the best diet? What do you think of intermittent fasting/keto/low carb/weight watchers etc? Is this food good for me? Should I count calories? It depends... See more

Happy Canada Day! This morning I did a double-take as one of my favourite podcasts, Balance365 Life released the episode featuring me as a guest! It was so much fun chatting to Jen and Annie. Be sure to subscribe to their podcast - the whole series is informative, balanced, and feels like you’re chit chatting to best girlfriends.

Hello friends! I’ve been quiet on this page. My non-parenting work time is limited these days and my priority is taking excellent care of my clients. We have news! Madelyn is excited to share that she is getting a little SISTER for her birthday this year! I’ve experienced pregnancy before, but never pregnancy with a toddler, or during a global pandemic. The day we found out was the day the world shut down. The stress, anxiety, the unknowns, and first-trimester naus...ea was like nothing I’ve experienced before. Luckily I’m into the second trimester now and feeling MUCH better! I know pregnancy announcements can sting. Infertility, miscarriages, & infant loss are far too common and I see you. I send you lots of love and truly hope you receive your rainbow baby or that first positive test. June was a busy month and I am almost full. I am accepting 3 new clients to begin their 1:1 balanced nutrition & weight loss coaching program in July. The plan is to work until mid-November, and then take a short leave. Send me a message with your email address and I’ll be in touch! Thanks for your continued support. -DietitianChels See more

It’s not enough to be a non-racist. We need to be actively anti-racist. I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to be silent here. White silence is harmful. ... I’ve been participating in #amplifymelatedvoices over on Instagram - the goal is to amplify the voices and lived experiences of black people and folks of colour. I’ve been sharing work created by BIPOC in my stories, and pausing my own content to listen, learn, and understand. I have realized just now, the stories weren’t coming over here on Facebook, (despite the accounts being linked) - and therefore it seems I’ve been silent. That was not my intent. As I white person I acknowledge my many privileges. But this isn’t about me. As allies we need to stand up, speak up, we need to educate ourselves and our children, listen to BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, & People of Colour), but not speak for them or over them. Nutrition stuff can wait. I’ll be back soon. I’ve created a story highlight on Instagram, with great info shared & created by BIPOC: https://www.instagram.com/s/aGlnaGxpZ2h0OjE3ODUzNDc4MDE2MDY #BlackLivesMatter #JusticeforGeorge #JusticeforAhmaud #JusticeforBreonna
