The week of love is upon us and I will be coming at you to lighten your days with ideas and facts around love... which will hopefully warm you a little during this cold snap. LOVE IS AMAZING - the benefits of loving others, only get more amazing as we examine them more closely. Oxytocin is one, often called the "cuddle chemical," is a hormone released when we touch someone we care about. ... So the more loving our connections, the more we amass this fabulous chemical, which is known to; lower blood pressure decrease stress boost immunity reduces aches and pains increases energy and enables us to experience life more often on the upbeat. In fact, studies of psychology and aging show that loneliness increases blood pressure, while the feeling of being "connected" lowers it. Studies also show how oxytocin overrides fear and reduces anxiety. This amazing chemical also improves our ability to recognize and respond appropriately to social cues and enhances all aspects of our well-being. ! #healthtips #wellnesslifestyle #loveweek #valentinesweek #airdriemoms #calgarylife

Many of us are chasing that burn and wanting to know as much as you can about fat burning right?! So here are 3 Crucial Food and Fat Loss Concepts to help you make smart choices and understand your journey to long term health Crucial Concept 1: Certain types of foods can cause inflammation. The inflammation can cause insulin insensitivity, among a host of other chronic diseases. And one particularly annoying byproduct of this inflammation is fat deposition, chronic fatig...ue, poor performance, and weight gain. Peanuts cause inflammation in me even though I love them! But if I want to see a fat loss them I need to avoid them. ! Crucial Concept 2: Almost every person on the planet has a food allergy, intolerance, or sensitivity. If these are not taken into consideration, the result is a compromised immune system, missed training days, bloating and gas, and once again, resistance to fat loss and a propensity for weight gain. ! #awareness Crucial Concept 3: Your body can only handle a finite amount of preservatives, genetically modified foods, artificial sweeteners, toxins, and foreign objects before it develops a toxin overload, which sometimes manifests itself as , aches and pains, sickness, hardened arteries and cancer. ! *We see that when someone cleans up their act and then adds toxins back in, the body is now 'more' sensitive and less tolerant. If you go back to a poor diet after being on a good one, you are making things harder for yourself in the future. #healthtips #healthfirst #wellness #fatloss #nutrition #airdriemoms #airdrie #yyc

Happy Friday friends! I hope your all well and warm today! This morning I released module 4 of my new masters guide, and in that we learn about #AdrenalFatigue . So, I wanted to share a tool with you, that you can use to see if you are maybe dealing with some adrenal issues. I hope you find it helpful and have a great weekend! ... here is a quick scale you can use to tell what stage of adrenal dysfunction you 'might' be in. Stage 1 - Stressed (edgy, difficulty falling asleep, mental function is fast and scattered) Stage 2 - Wired (overwhelmed, difficulty staying asleep, erratic mental function, struggles focusing on one thought or idea) Stage 3 - Crashed (exhausted, unrefreshing sleep, unable to generate ideas) There are also those of us who still sleep great and feel refreshed in the morning, but as the day goes on we feel more edgy, irritable and anxious. This I would consider a "warning stage"... that if you don't make some changes, your adrenal issues may get worse. #wellness #healthtips #stressmanagement #adrenalsupport #biohacking #nutritionaltherapy #airdrie #airdriemoms #albertamoms

Good morning friends happy Monday! With most of the gyms being closed still in here in Alberta, many people are off track with their normal exercise regimen. But seriously, one of the most effective exercise tools you have, that is free and almost anyone can do is ! Especially walking ! ? ... Because there are many benefits to walking, below are 10 ; 1) Boosts our immune through encouraging lymph movement, and our lymphatic system plays a big part in our immune system by encouraging waste removal and 2) Improved circulation of our antibodies. These guys are our first line of defense against viruses and bacteria. So we want these flowing as effectively as possible. 3) Lowers stress! We know exercise and walking improve our moods by boosting endorphins and BDNF - these are our natural feel good hormones and they are also pain relieving. (Stress also down regulates our immune response). 4) Further improves pain and stiffness through mobility and keeping the body limber. 5) UV rays from the sun help our skin synthesis vitamin D3 and cholesterol which are important for immune support. 6) Reduces our risk of heart disease and varicose veins - it basically improves our whole cardiovascular system including blood pressure. 7) Helps build strong bones, tissues and cells by sending signals to the body to build new bones and cells. 8 ) Improves insulin sensitivity - this is a big concern in society now. 9) Early morning walks in the sunshine have been shown to improve sleep quality (which of course is very important for our immune and cell functioning). Sunshine also helps control our internal clocks 10) We may be on full 'stay at home' orders soon (hopefully not), so it is wise to get out while you can! Nip that cabin fever in the bud now with some outdoor adventures. #healthfirst #immunesupport #walking #insulinresistance #biohacking #wellness #airdrie #yyc

; Anyone looking for health and fat loss consider "Inconsistency in the body will effect circadian clock rhythms."... What does this mean? Well in the human body we have clocks, lots of clocks that signal to our organs and hormonal systems on when and how to work. during a 24 hour cycle. These clocks are signaled by our master clock in our SCN or "suprachiasmatic nucleus", a tiny region of the brain in the hypothalamus, situated directly above the optic chiasm (behind the optic nerve). It is responsible for controlling circadian rhythms. *Circadian rhythms are 24-hour cycles that run in the body to carry out essential functions and processes. to work optimally, and when we mess that up, the body doesn't work optimally or as it should. Then we start to see sleep, gut and hormonal issues, weight gain and illness occur. So to keep our body clocks and circadian rhythms working in our favor, it is best to; keep your sleep and wake times the same as much as possible. keep your feeding window the same - meals should be consumed at the same time each day. keep your exercise patterns and times the same as much as possible. keep your nutritional practices and food as consistent as possible. keep your bowel movements as consistent as possible. keep all other routines as consistent as possible like - journaling, self care, family time, kids routines, sunlight and fresh air exposure. Consistency + routines = strong circadian clocks #nutritionaltherapy #If #intermittentfasting #circadianrhythms #internalclocks #healthtips #guthealth #wellness #airdrie

MASTIC GUM FOR ACID REFLUX; Believe it or not, your stomach acid is directly connected to your immune system. Anyways, a client of mine is suffering with severe acid reflux the last few days and I mentioned taking 'mastic gum' to her. She had never heard of mastic gum...So what is it and how can it help with reflux? Well mastic gum is harvested from the Pistacia Lentiscus tree that is found only on the Greek island of Chios. Mastic gum is a resin, or sap-like substance, that ...comes from the tree. During the Roman empire period mastic gum had the same weight value of gold, and throughout history its uses have varied from culinary to medicinal. Mastic gum is most notoriously used for its digestive health benefits including; H.pylori infections, stomach ulcers, stomach pain from anxiety, indigestion, acid reflux and inflammatory bowel disorders. For acid reflux - its effectiveness may be due to the antioxidants and anti-inflammatory compounds it contains. Further research is needed to learn more about the exact mechanisms in which mastic gum works. Check out the double blind study in the comments! A person can chew mastic gum like normal chewing gum, or they can ingest it in capsule or powder form. Essential oil from mastic gum is also available. #healthtips #guthealth #acidreflux #INDIGESTION #airdriemoms #airdriedads #yychealth

& ; This week we are continuing to learn about supporting our immune system function. I hope your learning lots so far and this post should ! Ginkgo biloba first sprouted as the Black Death ravaged Europe in the 1300s, they were also the only trees left standing in Hiroshima after the 1945 bombings... and they still grow! ... Because of this resiliency and ability to thrive, ginkgo has long been connected to good health and longevity. A study, published in PNAS, details how having an enduring defense system (immune system) contributes to the tree’s seemingly ageless life. *study in comments. The immune system in these trees, even though they’re 1,000 years old, looks like that of a 20-year-old. Ginkgo contains high levels of flavonoids and terpenoids, which are compounds known for their strong antioxidant effects. These in turn have been shown to help with an array of health issues including inflammation, COPD, asthma, circulation, brain function, PMS and more. I personally supplement with ginkgo to help with cognitive performance, and knowing it’s extensive benefits for the immune system is a bonus. #healthtips #wellnesstips #immunesupport #coldandfluseason #naturalhealth #immunity #biohacking #airdrielife #airdriemoms #yyc

; Good morning friends TGIF!! So one thing that gets overlooked when looking at the immune system is protein. We think of all the herbs and nutrients but for or don’t understand how important protein is for immune system function. ... When we are born we receive passive immunization through food (unique to mammals), through breast milk colostrum at birth. Colostrum contains both immunostimulatory and immunosuppressive immunoglobulins. Immunoglobulins are any of a class of proteins present in the serum and cells of the immune system, which function as antibodies. You can supplement with colostrum of course are support your immunoglobulin profile. But you can also use . whey proteins contain bovine immunoglobulins, which are similar to human immunoglobulins. This type of whey may be of clinical importance to patients who are immunocompromised. However, all whey proteins are rich in cysteine and glutamate. These serve as precursors of glutathione, a potent antioxidant, which is needed in greater quantities during stress. *study in comments. #healthtips #immunesupport #supplements #foodismedicine #coldandfluseason #nutritionist #biohacking #airdrie #yychealth
