Hi everyone hope you are all safe, happy and healthy. Due to the uncertainty of Covid restrictions we are going to do registration a little different. As soon as possible can everyone please email Vanessa at [email protected] with player name and birthdate so we can get an idea of the interest level in getting on the field in 2021. If you are currently unsure waiting to see what happens please email stating this as well. At this point we are not taking actual regi...strations or payments as we don't yet know what restrictions we will be in place but we need to be working towards the season. We will need more coaches, umpires and volunteers this year to help with the new protocols we will likely need to follow. Some of the expected extra responsibilities are things like attendance tracking, equipment sanitizing and things like that. Please let Vanessa know if are you able to help out as a volunteer, umpire or coach. We also ask that you pass this info along to any friends or family that may not get this as the sooner we have everything in place the easier it is for everyone. Again please email Vanessa at [email protected] as soon as possible with registration info. For any other questions please email Vice President Jim Jaggers at [email protected] or call/text at 250-210-7771. Thanks, CDBA

Hi folks, hope everyone is safe, happy and healthy. Just a few things to pass along heading into 2021. We are excited about the likely return of baseball in the spring! That said because of the restrictions we haven't had board meetings for a bit and have not filled some positions. Most urgent is finding a registrar hopefully by the end of December. If you are interested please let us know. Our next board meeting is scheduled on Jan 11th at 6pm. We will not be using the sport...sengine platform for the 2021 season. We will be posting information on our facebook and instagram pages and will be in contact with the schools to get our information out. Obviously this isn't ideal for some so please reach out to friends and family members that may not see our updates. Lastly the Cowichan Valley Mustangs will be looking to field 13U (Peewee) and 15U (Bantam) teams in 2021. There are also options for Midget players that are in the works. For those that may not know the Mustangs are a rep program and is geared towards the high performance athlete. These teams have tryouts and start their season a little earlier, we will post this info on our facebook and instagram pages as well. For any questions please reach out to Vice President Jim Jaggers at 250-210-7771 or [email protected]. Hopefully we'll be seeing everyone on the field in a few months, stay safe. Happy Holidays to all. Chemainus District Baseball Association

Greetings Chemainus District Baseball Association Families. We are inviting you to join us September 14th at 6:30 pm at the Chemainus clubhouse for our Annual General Meeting. Our board is hoping to recruit new members and volunteers to be part of our fantastic baseball association team! There are a few director positions available this year. If you are a person with treasurer experience we would be thrilled to have you join our board as our new treasurer.... There are also many opportunities to sit as a member, the more voices we have the stronger our association will be. We meet once a month, September through June. It has been a challenging year for sports and non-profits across B.C. The COVID-19 pandemic has made it difficult for us to organize and support future youth sport in our community. The good news is, we have been working with return to play guidelines and are hopeful we will be able to get back to safely playing together on the field soon. Baseball has a long tradition in Chemainus, when we work together we can keep our tradition of a vibrant baseball community alive and strong. We welcome children of all skill levels and have dedicated coaches that foster the love of the game and teach the many benefits of playing team sports. Our board members work together to organize teams, umpires, games, tournaments, concession and more. Bring your mask and join us September 14th! We are looking forward to welcoming everyone who would like to join our amazing Chemainus Baseball Family. Kind Regards, Chemainus District Baseball Association Board of Directors.

Our AGM is coming up September the 14th at 630 at the clubhouse. This year more than ever we need more people to get involved and help us continue providing baseball to the youth of Chemainus, Saltair and Crofton. One of the major reasons many associations (including us) have cancelled this year is because the return to play restrictions require more board members to ensure everyone's safety and unfortunately we didn't have that this season. We typically only have 8-10 meet...ings a year and have all sorts of positions available, some with more responsibility than others and we can find a spot for anyone that wants to help out. In addition to board members we would also like to get ahead of the game with coaches and umpires so if you're interested in coaching or being an ump next season let us know. Our next board meeting is August 17th at 630 at the clubhouse, feel free to come out to that but more importantly please try to make an effort in coming September 14th to help strengthen the association heading into next season. Thanks from your Chemainus District Baseball Executives.

Sad news for sports enthusiasts in the valley, Sports Traders has been a huge asset for everyone but especially youth sports. They have been a great supporter of many youth sports associations including Chemainus District Baseball and will be greatly missed. We wish Richard and all his great staff all the best.

Dear Cowichan Valley Baseball Families, We hope this message finds you all well and that you are staying cool in the heat. We on the Mustangs Board are cautiously optimistic that baseball may return to the valley this fall. While everything is still up in the air, we are hopeful that Via Sport, which oversees all youth sports organizations in BC, will move from Phase 2 to Phase 3, which will allow for inter-association play. At present, we are in Phase 2 and Baseball BC has g...iven approval for in-association games to take place, but travel restrictions for inter-association play remain in place. As long as the Province remains in Phase 3 and if our governing bodies move from Phase 2 to Phase 3 within the next month as expected, we will put together a Mustangs Fall Ball program for keen players from the Ladysmith, Chemainus, Duncan, Cowichan Lake and Salt Spring associations. Given the amount of work needed to organize a fall program, we are asking for families to confirm interest before we go ahead with the necessary planning. Please email before August 1 to confirm your interest in playing fall ball: Include your player's name and birth year: Peewee 2008-2009; Bantam 2006-2007; and Midget 2003-2005. State whether and how you are able to assist in supporting the program. We will need team parents, assistant coaches, and volunteers to help with COVID protocols. Program cost will depend on what we are able to offer, but we will confirm that fees will be no more than $200 maximum. Players will be accepted to the program on a first-come-first-served basis and we cannot guarantee space for all who are interested so please RSVP quickly to avoid disappointment. We sure hope to see you on the field soon! Your Mustangs Board -- Cowichan Valley Mustangs [email protected]

Sports Traders has been a great sponsor of CDBA over the years including donating several bats during the Hopwo and Fenton tournaments. They've got lots of great products at great prices, head on down for any of your sporting good needs and thank them for the years of support they've given us so far.

This is not easy news to give but like the majority of associations in BC we have made the difficult decision to cancel the spring season. We were very fortunate to have so many great families this year that were still willing and waiting to get on the field this summer and hope to retain as many of you as possible this fall or next spring. We are still hoping to do a fall ball program this year but that will depend on being able to advance to the next phase in the return to ...play protocols. We will be giving refunds at the Clubhouse Friday the 26th from 630-8pm, please try to respect social distancing when coming to pick up your refund cheque. If you would like us to hold your money for next season we will do that and allow you to play 2021 for the 2020 rates. For our Bantam, Peewee and Mosquito families we had already ordered the personal jerseys and if you want us to hold your money we will give you the jersey from this season for free. If you would like your refund but would also like the jersey we will sell it to you for $20. Moving forward we could also use more board members as we can never have too many, the more we have the stronger our program will be. Our AGM for next season will be September the 14th at 630pm at the clubhouse, attendance does not mean you'll have to commit to being a board member. Lastly even though the season is cancelled the fields will remain open for anyone to use so please get out there as much as possible and enjoy the summer with your friends and families. Please respect social distancing when possible. If you would like to get out there but need a ball or two let us know and we can make arrangements with you. From all of the CDBA executives, thank you for your support this year.
