I've taken the plunge and gone into business for myself doing communications and technology support. In April 2018, I joined a company called Admin Slayer as a virtual admin. This was my first opportunity to get my feet wet in the world of VA and freelancing without fully committing to self employment. Admin Slayer is a virtual admin team - they do all the work to seek out the clientele and assign me clients as a subcontractor based on my skills and client needs. I continu...ed to do this on the side in addition to my day job at Canadian Parents for French thoughout the summer of 2018. By fall I decided to get more serious about VA. I joined CAVA, the national association for VAs and started seeking out clients independently of CPF and Admin Slayer. I also went through the process of registering my business and website. I continued my subcontract work with Admin Slayer and decreased my hours at CPF in order to pursue my own business. By May of 2019, I had built up enough steady clientele, that I was able to leave my job at CPF completely and focus entirely on working for myself. After taking the first few months of summer to get a handle on my client workload, and spend some time with the kids I'm now starting to look to the future. It's time to officially announce to friends and family the launch of Cheri Nixon Virtual Services!!! Please spread the word that I am in business! Based out of my home in Osgoode, I'm taking on clients and small business owners who are looking to outsource their administration, communications and technology needs. cherinixon.ca
