Cherry avenue farms 23.12.2020

We will have a short day on Sunday - 7am-10:30 am for cherry picking. The short day is to be able to comply with on-property guest limitations due to COVID 19. We will reopen on Monday for good cherry picking conditions in some of our smaller orchards.

We will be open for sweet cherry picking on Saturday, July 10, rain or shine! If you do come to pick in the rain, please expect to get wet. We do not know if we will be open on Sunday; we have a small crop this year, and we have been very busy. We will update picking info for Sunday late Saturday evening. We know this is not ideal, as people want to make plans for Sunday; however, we do not want to say we will be open on Sunday until we are absolutely sure there will be cherries to pick. So many of our guests drive a long way, and we want to make sure their long drive is not in vain. Thank you for your patience.

We are planning to open on July 8! Please, please visit our website for all the information about picking on our farm this summer www.cherryavenuefarms.org as there are some significant changes this year due to COVID-19. Please note, that due to the smaller crop we have this year, we will not be open every day, all day. Picking conditions change very quickly based on the number of people who come to visit. To avoid a long drive, only to discover there are no cherries for picking, we encourage our visitors to check our voicemail before heading to the farm: 905-562-5481.

So much has happened, and so much has changed, since we finished our picking season in 2019! We have been reluctant to update our website, as at this time, we are not really sure what this season will look like. Thank you for your patience. Our first crop of the year is sweet cherries, and we are truly hoping to be open for picking. Cherries should be ripe, starting around the second week of July. We are closed until then, as there is nothing to pick before then. If we a...re able to open for picking, it will be a much different experience than 'normal'. We are a family farm, and the health and safety of our family, employees, visitors and customers are our number one priority. We are committed to complying with all protocols and guidelines established by the public health and governmental authorities. We are implementing rigorous sanitization procedures for washrooms, tables, counters and other high-touch surfaces. Hand sanitizers will be available at designated locations on our property. In an attempt to minimize transactions and contact, we will not be selling/weighing fruit by the pound. Visitors to our farm will know that we have a minimum purchase for everyone entering the orchard. This year, we will provide baskets that, when full, cover the minimum purchase. Each person entering will be required to pick a minimum of $5-6, and will be given a basket that will hold that exact amount (at least two pounds of cherries). Once a person's basket is full, they will be kindly asked to exit the orchard. If our tractors are running, families or individuals will be seated at least six feet apart, or in areas separated by plexiglass. Trains would be sanitized after each round, resulting in fewer available shuttles to the picking areas. Once open, we will be asking everyone to help keep our property safe; do not enter if you are experiencing any of the symptoms of Covid. We will require a 2 metres distance to be maintained among all individuals, or families, on our property, and ask that all social distancing arrows be respected. At this time, we do not know if open areas will be available for family picnics, We will be relying on everyone's cooperation, as together, we will ensure the well-being of all. Thank you for your trust in us, and for your understanding and collaboration. We will update our website as we get closer to our picking season (www.cherryavenuefarms.org). Until then, please stay safe, please stay healthy. We look forward to seeing you soon! Warm Regards, the Moyer Family See more

Our sweet cherry season has finished for 2019! We are now picking apricots, and expect to have excellent picking conditions for the next 2 weeks! The first variety of Peaches will start this Saturday (August 3). These varieties are quite small this year, due to the shortened growing season, but are super sweet! We do not grow a lot of them, and they tend to get picked quickly, so we will have them on Saturday, but can't say how long they will last. We will update our voicemail (905-562-5481) on Sunday and Monday morning in regards to picking availability. Over the next couple of weeks, we will have days with peaches available, and days when we are waiting for the next varieties to ripen. Starting in late August, we will have peaches available non-stop every day until late September!
