Maddie the beautiful 3 year old GSD is up for adoption. Maddie is a well trained pure German Shepherd with a good heart. She loves her people and can be great chilling on the couch or out for a hike. She really just loves to be involved with her humans. She is ecollar trained, treadmill trained, has solid basic obedience (sit, down, wait, place, good leash walking, recall) and is not leash reactive. Maddie is good with cats and does not resource guard food or toys with peop...le. She is clean in the house and can be trusted loose but is also crate trained. Maddie can exist around other dogs however gets very uncomfortable around them and her anxiety is too much for her to handle. She will need to be the only dog in the family for her to thrive. She has not ever shown any issues with small children however as she is unpredictable due to her anxiety- we are looking to place her in a home where there are no small children. Maddie needs a home where the owners are experienced with large breed dogs. She can be handler sensitive however needs a strong confident owner to guide her or she will take charge and make poor choices. She has been known to bully other dogs when she is left to her own choices. Maddie is CKC registered, microchipped and spayed. DOB: December 29 2017. There is a rehoming fee. The current owners would like to keep in touch after she is rehomed. Please email the kennel @ [email protected] or text/call 250-899-9040

One of the best parts of social media is often we can hide what we don’t want others to see. As a trainer, of course I always want to show the best parts; but I think it’s important to be transparent about when things aren’t always perfect. Here Maisy released herself from the place. She was earning her breakfast and was very hungry. Immediately I communicated to her that what she had done was wrong- and you can see in her body language she understood. She put herself back,... correcting the mistake without me having to do anything but communicate that. Then I praise her- and you see her body language again completely change. She clearly in that moment understood what was wrong and what was right. In dog training, it’s never a linear path. Both the human and the dog will make mistakes. But learning to overcome them and have the dog understand us is what creates long term success. It wasn’t a perfect training session due to an error she made- but more learning happened for her than it would’ve if she hadn’t made that mistake. See more

Today marks Maisy’s two weeks with us- meaning she has one left. I haven’t challenged her much on her place command outside because I’ve been working so much on her recall. Today I thought I would take a risk- and really see if she had some impulse control. It was either going to go fantastically or horribly. The excitement of two labs and a Malinois is a lot for a 4.5 month old. I was close by in case she decided to book it but I was pleasantly surprised. Her owners want to be able to take her to their cottage and have her remain calm around excitement.. I think she’s certainly on the right track

How does a puppy not even 5 months old have a better recall than most adult dogs I see? This is not me bragging. This is me saying people have no excuse, train your dog! A solid recall is a life saving command!

Lovely miss Ava is ready to be adopted into her forever home. DOB: June 1 2019 She is soon to be spayed Located in BC, Canada ... Ava is a wonderful purebred Belgian Malinois - the kind of mal for someone who wants the look without all the drive. Ava is great to hike all day, but also loves snuggling, being a couch potato, and hanging out with her people. She is very shy and timid at first. Ava shows absolutely no signs of resource guarding for toys or food, however she has great drive for both. She is completely dog neutral and really enjoys playing with other dogs. She has basic pet foundation (sit, down recall, place, etc). She has no food sensitivities or allergies from what we can see. She is crate trained, and completely clean and quiet in the crate and house. She is great with children and dogs of all sizes. She is not good with cats. She would make a great pet for an active family or someone wanting to get into dog sports (agility, flyball, lure courses, scent work, obedience etc...) She will be spayed and have OFA hips / elbows done at our cost. A rehoming fee will apply.

Took lil baby Blae out for a walk in the city today. We decided to go into a store to proof some of his obedience in a new environment. He rocked it of course

A clear head makes the world of difference. Miss Maeby was a natural on the treadmill. It’s not that lack of drive or lack of ability to think Is her problem. It’s harnessing, capping, and putting it towards one thing. When you show a hectic overly energetic dog how to harness that energy, really cool things can happen.

We welcomed Miss Maeby to the Cherry Creek Crew last night. She is here because she is so loving and excited about life that it gets the better of her sometimes. She is extremely over aroused and doesn’t know how to handle herself. We look forward to watching her grow over the next few weeks :)

Meet Kip. The adorable 2.5 year old Lab x Rottweiler with a heart of gold. Unfortunately, she also lacks some confidence and can be extremely reactive. Kip’s owner has worked wonders for her reactivity (to which I take no credit!) however she was now lacking engagement. She would get to focused in on other dogs- and that would usually result in her taking steps back in her training and reacting. Today on our trail walk Kip has beautiful moments of success engaging with her owner and trusting her with her safety. We can’t wait to watch her continue to grow

Dog body language and communication is fascinating. As humans, we can never replace what dogs teach each other. Sometimes instead of stepping in- it’s great to allow them to communicate amongst themselves.
