200 x 1-gallon Trachycarpus fortunei (Chinese Windmill) Palms delivered today. Beautiful 4-5 year old palms started from seeds that were collected from my favorite trees in Richmond, Vancouver, Victoria, Parksville, and Ganges. They will go to good homes. #cherrypointpalms #cobblehill #cowichanvalley #cowichanbay #vancouverislandpalms #trachycarpusfortunei #trachycarpus @ Nanaimo, British Columbia

The Laburnum are in full bloom at Cherry Point. It brings to mind the Laburnum Walk at Vandusen Gardens in Vancouver. I have wonderful memories of the Laburnum walk and would welcome revisiting them #cherrypointpalms #cowichanbay #cowichanvalley #cobblehill #laburnum @ Cobble Hill, British Columbia
Acanthus mollis (Bear’s Breeches). A beautiful Mediterranean plant that produces a 2 meter tall flower spike. These are the plants shown at the top of Corinthian Columns in ancient Greek architecture. This was planted 2 years ago as a 1-gallon plant. #cherrypointpalms #acanthusmollis #acanthus #mediterranean #mediterraneanlandscape #cowichanvalley #cowichanbay #cobblehill @ Cobble Hill, British Columbia

Two more 6-foot+ palms on their way to new homes. It’s hard to sell the sometimes... I’d rather just plant them and enjoy them. I have one left at this size
Palm moving... Day 3 The 10-foot Palm is moved, now just waiting for information on the depth and location of the natural gas line, so far I know about the street light wires, the telephone cables, and underground electrical service to the house... the owner did not pick a good place to plant his palm. Next week will be the big lift and I can bring the big Palm home
Palm moving... Day 2 Trenching is done and the small Palm is loose and ready to be moved. The digging was slow as there is a power box beside the palms, with wires running through the root ball. Met the Electrical Supervisor for the municipality on site to work out the details of the lift. I haven’t found the gas main yet... I am glad that Brian was able to help The smaller Palm will be moved on Friday, with the large Palm being moved next week. This is so much more fun ...than sitting at a desk! See more
Palm moving... Day 1 Trenching is 1/2 done, with a decent root ball being maintained. The trenching should be finished on Wednesday, followed by undercutting, and removal later in the week
Next project... moving the big Palm to the farm. My six foot two inch tall son, Brian, provides scale (Brian had me add the two inch reference)
