Here's another painting I just added to my new art shop! This one is called ’Life is Good Today’ 6"x8" plein air oil on board. I painted this sitting on the beach with friends in Mexico. We were sitting under a canopied beachside restaurant, toes in the sand, cool cervesas in hand! This (I’m thinking it was a bougainvillea tree?) was unreal. The light on that pink was electrifying... and the turquoise door, so luscious. I was there as part of an art group and stayed at the @...Casa Buena Art Retreat. My good friend Jane Romanishko owns it with her husband, Dallas. They live there during our winters, so know the area well. It's just northwest from Puerto Vallarta, right along the coast. Their villa is gorgeous - right on the ocean with a big pool overlooking it. Everything is homemade and fresh, and their accommodations are relaxing and cool. The area is an artist's delight. I've spent a lot of time along the east coast of Mexico, and this was much more 'local' feeling and authentic; less developed and 'touristy'. We painted through little townsites, and along beaches and marinas. Bouganvillea like these were everywhere. Their pinks seemed to glow in the sunshine and drip with colour. Oh how I loved that trip. Hi all! I’d stopped posting to this page last summer because I felt I was just repeating the same posts, but I have something new to share. I’ve been painting so much these days that my studio is bursting with art! So I’ll now use his page to sell some of my favourite painting studies and archived paintings. These will be affordable and ready to frame or even hang! I’ll also provide links to my new website collection (coming soon) of more paintings for you to browse. For now..., if you see a painting you’d love to own, just message me and I’ll make it happen. Here’s my first little study up for sale! This is a 6x8 painting I created on the banks of the Kootenay River last summer! It was an exciting afternoon, because I’d taken a short hike all by myself. I’m usually a little timid about hiking alone... bears .... but this trail was fairly busy so I wasn’t as nervous. All afternoon I enjoyed hikers stopping by to see what I was working on, and basked in the sunshine. The river glittered in the sunshine and the mountains were clear and lovely. What a great memory it was... pictures below! We are so lucky to have the Rockies on our doorstep... have you enjoyed a similar afternoon in the mountains? This was the start of a transformational year for me! Workshop in Kallispell, MT with members of the Plein Air Painters of America’s. What a thrill it was! After I got home, I began taking online instruction from Matt Smith, through the Tuscon Art Academy... wow have my paintings grown! So important to always work on your skill set, no matter how long you’ve been painting. Never stop learning!
