Check this out everyone!! Recognize those hospital shots? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dUFqP68b-Zc Dr. Ben Chan, a regular locum physician at SBGHC’s Chesley site, and University of Toronto faculty member, recorded a COVID-themed rendition of Let It Snow that features the Chesley hospital. Dr. Chan was interviewed by CBC National News about the video, which will be featured on tonight’s edition.

GREAT NEWS! As part of its COVID-19 relief initiative to support those on the frontline of this pandemic, the Chesley Hospital Foundation just received a $50,000 grant from CMA Foundation’s COVID-19 Community Hospital Fund towards Chesley Hospital’s new triage/waiting area renovations. This grant will go a long way towards the total projected cost of $132,580. Chesley Hospital’s Emergency Department will see an increase of 600 sq. ft. allowing the hospital to comply with COVID-19 physical distancing and traffic flow protocols and will be a permanent solution in the event of future pandemics. You too can help with this project by donating to P.O. Box 40, Chesley, at the registration office and on the Foundation’s website, www.chesleyfoundation.ca.

South Bruce Grey Health Centre (SBGHC) cares about our communities' health and safety, our patients and partners in care, and our team of health care providers ...who have been working tirelessly throughout the COVID-19 pandemic. It has been a long journey for everyone, and we know that COVID fatigue is setting in. We cannot stress enough the importance of the health and safety measures we have put in place to protect you. When coming to the hospital, please be sure to provide our screeners with honest information so that we can ensure your safety and the safety of others. We can get through this if we pull together! The current temporary use of the Board Room, partially for the lab, will be converted permanently to two triage and waiting areas. Remember, donations can be made by post to P.O. Box 40, Chesley, left at the registration desk and through our website www.chesleyfoundation.ca.

GIVING TUESDAY, December 1st is coming up next week. A perfect day to make a donation to the Foundation’s Christmas Campaign, this year for Chesley Hospital's renovations for COVID distancing triage and waiting areas. Started in 2012 by the 92nd Street Y and the United Nations Foundation, Giving Tuesday is a global movement for giving and volunteering in response to Black Friday and Cyber Monday. We have two days that are good for the economy. Now we have a day that is good for the community too.

Give your I LOVE MY HOSPITAL sign a second life. Before the ground freezes, the snow piles up and the snow plow arrives, drop your yard sign off at the hospital to show our healthcare workers one more time how much we appreciate what they continue doing for our community.

The #Chesley Hospital Foundation’s Christmas Campaign got off to a great start this week with the help of these dedicated volunteers Isabel Bell, Eleanor Currie, Sherry Jacklin, Lindsay Manery, Ben Rier, Connie Sweiger, Karen Sweiger, Ted Sweiger with Tom Sweiger behind the camera. These ten volunteers stuffed 6,000 Christmas letter envelopes in less than a day. It sure looked a lot different from last year!

SBGHC is looking to our patients, families and community stakeholders to help shape the future of the hospital as we begin a strategic planning exercise for 202...1-25. An online survey is now available on our website, which also gives an opportunity for individuals to identify their interest in participating in a virtual focus group to be held later this fall. The survey will remain open until November 1. https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/7N6SF85 See more

THANK YOU CHESLEY YOU’VE DONE IT AGAIN! As part of the annual CKNX Health Care Heroes Radiothon, organized and manned by Foundation board members and family, Saturday’s BBQ was a great success. This generosity goes a long way towards the purchase of IV pumps & poles for the Chesley Hospital. As always, none of this success would have been possible without the strong support of the Chesley community.

As part of the Radiothon we like to feature a ‘Story from the Heart;’ a story of the great care you, a family member, or friend received at the Chesley Hospital. Drop us a line at P.O. Box 40, Chesley; via email, [email protected] or give us a call at 519-363-2340 X 3140. As with everyone else, the Chesley Hospital Auxiliary has had to cancel this year’s tag day. Normally held on the Thursday or Friday (weather dependent) following Florence Nightingale’s birthdate of May 12, this year number 200, the Auxiliary uses its tag day to raise awareness and funds towards direct patients’ needs at Chesley Hospital. The Auxiliary’s credo of assisting the hospital with purchases especially for the comfort of patients is well demonstrated. During rece...nt years this has included revitalizing the patient lounge, purchasing wheelchairs and physio equipment. This year the Auxiliary has pledged to fund five new patient over-bed tables at a cost of $2,000. Small in nature these projects add much to the day-to-day comfort of patients during their hospital stay. The Auxiliary thanks everyone for past year donations. Your donations for this year’s tag day can be made by mail to the Auxiliary at P.O. Box 40, Chesley.

Expanded Community Testing for COVID-19 With expanded provincial criteria for testing, the Grey Bruce Health Unit is enlarging the eligibility criteria for COV...ID-19. Testing will go beyond the provincial recommendations, making testing a priority for older adults, vulnerable and high-risk populations. On-site testing will be conducted for residents and staff of long-term care, assisted living and retirement homes. For full details about who can now be tested, visit http://ow.ly/juoS50zeg3z Some primary care providers also conducting testing; individuals should contact their primary health care provider to inquire if they require resting and where to access a test. Way back when in February, before COVID-19 lockdowns, physical distancing and self-isolation, a couple of the Foundation board members had the opportunity to see first-hand some recently purchased equipment in action at the #Chesley Hospital. It is so easy, with so much attention on COVID-19, to forget about the on-going day-to-day equipment hospitals need to function and provide the best health care they possibly can for their communities. The Foundation takes this opportunity to send out this reminder to continue the generous support for Chesley Hospital to meet these immediate and future equipment needs.
