The Chester Playhouse is a beloved local landmark that has been at the heart of this community for more than 80 years. Our government is proud to help fund the necessary repairs and renovations so that this structure can continue to provide cultural programmi...ng and economic opportunities. Come to Chester October 4 to see this moving piece of Theatre !!

There is an exciting event happening in our community on Sunday, October 4th at 2:00 pm in Lordly Park. Caravan Theatre is touring the critically-acclaimed play, 4.48 Psychosis. 4.48 Psychosis, by radical and influential British playwright Sarah Kane, takes a deep dive into issues of mental health and suicide. Lyrical yet raw, grim yet humorous, the play beautifully expresses ugly truths: isolation, stigma, and the longing for self-esteem and community understanding. Integrat...ing movement into Kane’s poetic text, Artistic Director, Kathy France, leads a talented cast of notable Maritime-based performers Margaret Legere and Rebecca Wolfe. Tickets: Pay-What-You-Want (suggested $20) Available online at caravantour.brownpapertickets.com or on site before showtime. Following each performance, audience members are invited to join the cast and community wellness partners for a post-show conversation addressing issues of mental health, identity and inclusion. This event (performance and conversation) runs 90 minutes without an intermission. Performances take place outdoors with audience following COVID-19 protocols. Audience members will be seated in zones that can accommodate from 1 to 10 ticket-holders. Trigger Warnings: Adult language and content. This show explicitly deals with self-harm, suicide, death, depression, dysphoria, mental health issues, and pharmaceutical drug use.
