"Join Africa Centre as we highlight some phenomenal Albertans this Black History Month! Black History Month began as a way of remembering important people and events in the history of the African diaspora and also gives us the opportunity to celebrate our rich culture, community and accomplishments. This past year has been unprecedented, but hasn’t stopped us from celebrating our fellow Albertans.... It is with utmost excitement we present to you our short video, Alberta Black History, which highlights some of our fellow Albertans making history in their field!"

Today is Trans Day of Remembrance. It is a day to come together and honour the memory of transgender folx who have died as a result of transphobic violence. It is also a day to refocus on how to continue to raise awareness, amplify trans voices, increase visibility, and take action to support trans rights. #Repost @thelanding_uofa Transgender Day of Remembrance takes place annually on November 20th (this Friday). It is meant as a day to honour the memory of transgender folks who died due to transphobic violence and to raise visibility for transgender rights and issues worldwide. In the week leading up to TDoR, The Landing and @ismss_ualberta have partnered to create a virtual remembrance wall, with the link in our bio. What can you do to help? ... 1. Visit our virtual TDoR wall to post words of remembrance or affirmation to the trans community. 2. Check out our the resources column to learn more about Transgender Day of Remembrance. 3. Donate to local, national, or international charities doing work with the trans community. A list of charities and their links are in the Donate column. 4. Attend a TDoR event, such as @raricanow rally or @yegpridecentre online event. More details on the Wall!
