A heartfelt thank you goes out to our supporter and community partner, Meridian Credit Union. The impact you have made through #GivingTuesdayCA for your 15 community projects is outstanding. We are honoured to have been selected as 1 of 15 community partners across Ontario. Our program and services are provided at no cost to families, which eliminates financial barriers and improves their access to care. The day has finally arrived! It is #GivingTuesdayCA. Donate here: https://www.canadahelps.org//the-child-advocacy-centre-of- Children’s voices will be heardhelp us make it happen. ... The disclosure process is one of the most frightening and yet brave things a child or youth can do. Now more than ever, young people have less access to someone safe to tell. We’ve seen the statistics and the daily impact of COVID-19 across Canada, in our communities, and within our families. The impact of COVID-19 is affecting children and youth in more ways than just social isolation. As we are told to stay home in order to keep safe; staying home is not always safe for children and youth. The pandemic has created the perfect storm. Social isolation, virtual learning and the closure of many children’s programs creates increased risk for children living with people who are unsafe. Barriers to accessing safe adults such as teachers, mental health and medical professionals make the identification and reporting of abuse much more difficult. We need to share information across our communities in order to help prevent abuse, learn to identify it, and know how and where to report it. Our programs and services are provided at no cost to families, which eliminates financial barriers and improves their access to care. Your donations help ensure our children and youth across Simcoe Muskoka are supported from the time of disclosure and throughout their healing journey. Beginning on December 1st and ending January 1st, 2021 help us reach our goal of $5000. Each donation of $25.00 or more will receive a handcrafted holiday mask. #childrensvoiceswillbeheard

Human trafficking happens more often you know and far closer to home than you could ever imagine. Hundreds of thousands of human beings are bought and sold every single year worldwide. About 25% of these victims are children. If you are a victim or know a victim who needs help, please call Canadas Human Trafficking Hotline at 1-833-900-1010.
When abuse goes unreported, children/youth are susceptible to being hurt again by the same abuser. If you suspect abuse, act right away by reporting concerns to the Windsor Essex Childrens Aid Society https://www.wecyac.ca/suspect-childyouth-abuse/
