Christmas Break starts Tuesday, Dec 22, 2020. Our last classes are Monday, Dec 21. We will be back on Monday, January 4, 2021. Therefore, every day of the week will get 3 classes in December and 4 in January. Every day of the week will have 2 weeks off, except Mondays, which will only miss one week. This is part of the planned schedule and pricing for Term 1, which runs September to the end of January. Your monthly installments are equal but you don't necessarily get the same... number of classes each month. Some months there were 5 classes, and December has only 3. But even though this is built into the pricing structure, we invite you to attend a make-up gymnastics class either in December (until Dec 21) or in early January, to make up for the 4th December class, if you wish. Please call the office to schedule this. 604-795-6009. This is a separate issue from the adjustments you may wish to make for the 9 days we were shut down by Provincial Health Orders. Wednesday and Thursday classes missed 2 weeks, and every other day missed one. We wish to offer credits or refunds or make up classes to your satisfaction. If your account was accidentally charged, or if you owe for part of a month or more, or for any other account adjustments, please call the office to get it straightened out. Thank you.

We are open for our last day before holidays, despite the snow.

On Dec 14, 2020 the PHO published its guidelines for indoor group activities. It has been made clear to us that gymnastics, along with martial arts and cheerleading, is not governed by this document. We continue to be governed by viaSport phase 2 guidelines as well as those of Gymnastics BC. Therefore nothing is changing and we continue to operate our small classes with our current protocols.

In the daily, sometimes hourly, saga of group indoor activities restrictions, it looks like as of 12:19 pm today children's activities may resume, but still no group activities for anyone 19 or older. For those wondering about the distinction between "indoor group activities" and gymnastics, please refer to the viaSport list of sports here. Gymnastics is considered a group A sport (individual sports that can maintain physical distancing), not a group activity. This is page 42 of the Phase 3 Return to Sport guidelines. For the duration of Dr. Henry’s new regional health order (till noon on Monday, Nov 23), Chilliwack Gymnastics Club will continue to be open, following guidance from Gymnastics BC and viaSport. There will be a few changes: 1. Everyone who enters the building will need to complete a daily health screening checklist. See photo. 2. No free play is allowed. Therefore: A) there will be no free time at the end of class (the entire class will be structured and instructed), B ) Birt...hday parties need to be cancelled unless literally everyone attending is from your own household; C) Supervised Gym Time is cancelled. 3. Everyone must maintain 2 meters of physical distance at all times even if you are wearing a mask; 4. Runny noses are on the screening checklist again and are not allowed. Still closed, pending new guidance from the Province. This guidance has now been delayed until "the end of this week". We are planning to process your December automatic payment unless we hear otherwise, and we can adjust your account after. We think this is easier than cancelling them all, and then later chasing people for half a month. If this doesn't work for you please call the office. 604-795-6009. The office will be open weekdays 2 - 8 pm and Saturday morning 9 - 12:30.

With the recent spike in cases of Covid-19 in the Fraser Valley, we are getting lots of inquiries about whether we are remaining open. At this time the answer is yes, we are. We would like to reiterate our request to wear masks in the foyer and parents' seating area, and to stay outside if you do not need to come in. Students only please if your child is older. For Kindergym or if your student needs you for any reason (example anxiety, needs help on beam, etc) parents may come in. We are strongly requesting only one adult please, and no extra siblings unless you have no other choice. We would like to limit the number of people in our parents' seating area as much as possible.

Chilliwack Gymnastics Club will be closed beginning Wednesday, Nov 25 until further notice. The order to close came as a complete surprise and we have been confused for most of the day trying to figure out details. Finally Gymnastics BC has made the call to order its members closed. We have read that Provincial guidance is promised by Nov 30, so hopefully if they come through with that timeline we will be allowed to open under new guidelines by Dec 1. We shall see. Supervised Gym Time is available once again. This is not exactly the same as our previous drop-in gym in that we cannot accept last-minute one-time attendees. Provincial Covid sport guidelines require us to maintain consistent groups, so we are requiring term registrations or punch cards. Both are now available in our online registration portal. Times available: Thursdays 12:30 - 2:00 pm; Wednesdays 6:30 - 8:00 pm. Space is limited. Parent supervision required for young children. The price is $20 annual registration fee plus $60 for 10 visits (punch card) or $6 per class for the remainder of the term.

CHILLIWACK GYMNASTICS CLUB UPDATED COVID-19 PROTOCOLS as of OCT 1/20 Due to a recent increase in Covid-19 cases in BC, and new information about symptoms of the illness, we are updating our Covid protocols beginning Oct 1, 2020 in order to protect students, staff, parents, and the community. Here are a few changes: 1. We are following the lead of Dr. Bonnie Henry and the schools in now allowing certain symptoms such as runny nose in the gym, but still ask parents to use wis...dom and discretion, and not attend if the child shows any of the 7 Covid symptoms: fever, chills, cough or worsening chronic cough, shortness of breath, loss of smell or taste, diarrhea, nausea or vomiting. If your child is not allowed to attend school, please also do not bring him/her to the gym. 2. To reduce the general head count, we are still asking parents not to stay and watch unless their child needs them (anxiety, young children need help, etc.) If you ARE staying, we now request the use of masks in the parents' seating area. Students and coaches still do not need to wear masks in the gym. 3. We are now asking that parents, students, and staff wear masks while in the gym lobby (ie while entering the facility, before joining their class). 4. We are asking parents to wait with their children outside or in their vehicles until 5 minutes before class to minimize crowding in the foyer, as space is limited. If you need to drop off earlier than that, there is space in the foyer for some children to wait in a socially distanced manner. Please if you ARE able to wait in your vehicle, do so to allow those with no other option to wait inside. 5. We are requesting 24 hours notice to try a different class or make up a class, to ensure that we have sufficient staff to keep our class sizes to 6. See more

Gauging interest: if we ran gymnastics camps during the school day in the fall, would you attend? Looking at $38 per day 8:30 - 3:30 or $22 for half days 9 - noon or 12:30 - 3:30 perhaps Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays, or Monday to Friday. If we had minimum numbers to run it we would also allow just one day a week. Ages 4 to 12.

Hi, everyone, Our online registration portal is open and available to take your fall registrations as well as summer camp registrations. You always have the option to pay later (ie debit or credit or cash at our front desk, by etransfer or cheque, etc). However, if you select "installments" the portal will expect an immediate down payment by credit card, plus your credit card will be charged on the first of October, November, December, etc. for the remaining payments. If you wish to pay at the office you need to select "full payment" at the time of registration. (This in no way means we require the full upfront amount. Apologies to those who have received confusing certificates from our new program my skill chart. We have added everyone who is currently enrolled to our skills program, but it automatically adds each student at the parent and Tot level. So we have manually leveled the students up to their correct level. We didn’t realize it would send you certificates. There are still classes this week, and our summer program which starts next week will be at the same level as you are at now, for most of you.

Morning half day camp 9 am - noon; Full Day Afternoon/Evening Camp 12:30 - 7:30pm; Evening camp: 4 - 7 pm. Camps will run Monday-Friday for 10 separate weeks. Hello gymnastics community. As we prepare for reopening we are getting rid of some old equipment. This mini trampoline is being auctioned 24-hour-bidding style with a starting bid of free. You must pick up at the gym. It is in fair condition. Still usable but springs are gone (replaced with bungee cord) and vinyl is worn. Measures 3’3 square. Winning bid will be the first highest bid recorded on this post 24 hours from the time marked here as posting time. (One minute before the same time tomorrow as today’s posting time). Minimum bidding increment: $1. Any payment method is acceptable.

During the Covid-19 pandemic our classes will look different. As of May 21, we are still awaiting guidance from Gymnastics BC and WorkSafeBC before developing our specific policies, but we predict that there will be no spotting, and physical distancing will be in effect, and other measures will be in place (hand washing, closure of water fountain, cleaning, limited parent viewing, etc.) To help us communicate with you, and to limit interaction with front desk personnel, it i...s requested that you create an online account (find link on our website) and register online, and pay by electronic means (credit card online, or etransfer to [email protected].) If you are unable to do this, you may still register online, but pay in person, or register and pay in person. We would like to run modified classes from June 1 to Labour Day, plus day camps. Attending for only one month or drop-in will be allowed if space permits. The schedule is being worked out and there are no classes to register in right now. Expect a schedule in the next few days. If you would like a private lesson, we can schedule you even before June 1. As we cannot predict how many people will be interested in registering during this pandemic, it is difficult for us to know how many classes to offer. When a class fills up we will add another one, if we have staff available and space in our facility. If you already know you would like to come back right away, a comment here, private message, or message on our answering machine would be most helpful so we can get an idea of how many to expect. For birthday parties we will run only family groups at this time. Please call us at 604-795-6009 to book. There will be time in between for cleaning. Today I watched the announcement by Premier Horgan about opening BC back up. I found much of it ambiguous, and although sports and recreation is listed under phase 2, which is May 19 after the May long weekend, I got the impression he meant outdoor activities. But I didn't hear him say anything about indoor sports and recreation specifically. I still have an order from Fraser Health to close until the end of May (This order includes gymnastics, yoga, martial arts, and dance.) I don't see anywhere that says it is now lifted sooner. I assure you that once I know more you will be the first to know. - Donna

Wondering when we might reopen? Not for a while. We have an order to close issued from Fraser Health. This order expires May 31. That’s not to say they can’t extend it until later or lift it sooner. But that is where we stand at the moment.

COVID - 19 RESPONSE: March 19, 2020: Still closed until March 29. We will reassess at that time. In light of confirmed cases doubling in one day on March 17, we closed because we no longer felt safe or appropriate being open. We also learned that businesses must now maintain a 1-2 metre distance between people. That is impossible if we are spotting kids for skills, a safety necessity. Gymnastics BC has interpreted day camp operations as business, rather than daycare.... So even though day cares are allowed to remain open, we have been given a legal interpretation requiring us to close. The office will be open today from 8 am to 8 pm. Refunds available. Spring Break camps are still running and available to families because we are providing child-care services, unless directed otherwise. Assessing the situation daily. We are not booking any new birthday parties until April. Please do not bring sick kids to class. We reserve the right... to send sick kids home. We will happily allow make-up classes when the child is well again. We are requiring hand washing before entering the gym itself, and after using the gym.
