Slowly chipping away at the Trans Canada Trail in the Chilliwack River Valley. This trail is great to explore for families and distance athletes alike. Runs almost the full length of Chilliwack Lake Road and can be explored in whole or in small sections.
Huge thanks to Dave and the crew at PedalSport for donating these amazing EVOC trailbuilder packs!! A real asset for remote trail work. Very excited for all the community support we've been getting.
Our crew has been hard at work clearing. Community Forest and Lexw Qwò:m running well. Fireline is closed. Magic has not been assessed. Have fun out there.
Gary Robbins is a Chilliwack booster as well as a strong runner! Great story and beautiful images from our very own backcountry.
Nature works. Ask your doctor. Our mental health is important.
Pi:txel, Three Bears and Cholqthet all clear. Fireline is closed. Other trails are passable but cluttered. Thanks to everyone who has pitched in on the cleanup. Send us pics!

Big news! BC Bike Race 2021
Yay!! Thanks Old Yale Brewing. Making microbrews before they were cool.
Cleanup on Fireline today. Running well, still soft.
If you were at Weaver Lake this summer and thought what a beautiful trail you can thank this good looking crew. Recreation Sites and Trails BC staff worked with our youth on trails at Weaver Lake, Stave Lake and the TCT. Exciting news, we plan to keep our crew going over the winter with help from the Youth Community Partnership Grant and United Way of the Lower Mainland. Work is ongoing in the Community Forest and on the TCT in the Chilliwack River Valley. Thanks team!!
Cheam Lake wetlands well used today. Great job on the upgrades FVRD!!
Make your voice heard! City of Chilliwack really does listen.
New signs! Always upgrading.
Thanks City of Chilliwack for providing the grassroots grant and to Caliber Concrete, Lafarge and Canex for their generous donations to make it happen! The new shelter at Lexw Qwò:m Park will help to expand our field trip program and increase the enjoyment of the park for all. Very exciting. *Lexw Qwò:m (luhw KWOM) = always lots of moss
What a great day to learn about fungi!
Calendars are available at local retailers and online. A great Christmas present and they come with coupons! Thanks to all the sponsors and to Peaks N Valleys Trail Series for putting together this functional piece of locally produced wall art.
Making Cholqthet great again. Thanks Graham!
Planning for non motorized transport corridors can help protect our waterways and our health. Chilliwack has amazing potential for trail connectivity and active transport. We need to be intentional to get there. Please make your voice heard. Thanks Chilliwack Citizens 4 Change for highlighting an urgent issue.
Community Forest Turkey Trot coming this week! A self directed fun run. Look for details soon. #chilliwackcommunityforestturkeytrot2020
New signs in the Community Forest! Thaletel (THA la tell) means "like a heart" in Helq'eméylem and refers to the wild ginger that grows near the trail, particularly along the traverse. Wild ginger has long been used by First Nations medical practitioners. It can be dangerous if not prepared correctly, so if you find it in the forest, please enjoy its ginger scent and leave it in the ground.
Relaxed and spaced out vibe at the Loop the Vedder Half Marathon and 10k. Come on out grab a coffee and cheer on your friends!

A hot and bug filled day out with our volunteers and trail crew at Slollicum Peak in Harrison. Trail brushed back, new signs, more reflectors and lots of amazing views - although we can't take credit for the scenery!
Did you know there's a great cafe across the street from Lexw Qwò:m? Cedar and Moss Coffee serve high end coffee and tasty baking Tue-Sat 10-4. Come check out their amazing patio before or after your next walk!
Our trail crew and volunteers spent two full days clearing the Flora Loop trail and adding more reflectors. There are still some logs to step over but other than that this trail is now clear and well marked. Go check out all the work we and #BCParks staff have put into this trail but be sure to plan in advance as this is a long trail with steep sections and lots of boulder hopping!
Trails are looking great and the kids are loving it! Thanks to Stó:l Nation ,United Way of the Lower Mainland Fraser Valley Mountain Bikers Association Chilliwack Healthier Community and City of Chilliwack for helping us put this program together.
Do you think new hikers need more education before exploring the outdoors? If so, what topics do you believe they should be more informed about? The province’s... push to get British Columbians exploring the great outdoors during the pandemic without teaching them how is leading to people getting in trouble on trails and in the backcountry, according to an expert. Caution! New work on Spotlem is happening over the next few weeks. Jumps are slowly being reshaped. Thanks Calvin's Crew!!

Our crew had a great day clearing the Radium Lake trail with BC Parks From the Chilliwack Lake day use area cross the river and climb climb climb! This trail also provides access to Mt Webb and Mt McDonald, which should only be attempted by fit and experienced parties as the trail is high elevation and poorly marked. We are blessed to have this jewel of a park so close to our town!
