Happy Double Ninth Festival, also called Double Yang Festival, is on the 9th day of the 9th lunar month in traditional Chinese calendar. It usually falls ...in October in the Gregorian calendar. The festival originated in the Warring States period (475-221 BCE). In Yi Jing (The Book of Changes), number 6 was thought to be of Yin quality whereas number 9 of Yang character. In standard Chinese, number 9 is pronounced ji, the same as for ‘long-lasting’ ( ji). Thus, number 9 in both month and day was thought to be auspicious. More explanations about the origin and celebrations of the festival can be found here: https://www.academia.edu/42632322/Double_Ninth_Festival See more
