Christmas is around the corner. Show kindness and respect to others by maintaining a physical distance and wearing a non-medical mask. To safely put a mask on ... Wash or sanitize your hands Inspect the mask, holding it by the ties or loops. Discard if damaged or dirty. Open fully to cover from the bridge of your nose to your chin. Adjust the mask to your face so there are no gaps on the side. If mask has stiff edge, pinch to close gaps between nose and mask. Keep your nose, mouth and chin covered at all times. Avoid touching the mask. To safely take off your mask: Wash or sanitize your hands Remove the mask from the back by releasing ties or loops, do not touch the front of the mask. Discard the mask immediately if disposable. Wash thoroughly if reusable. Wash or sanitize your hands. Help prevent the spread by staying home and away from others if you have symptoms of COVID-19.

Stretch for your body and your mind. Keep your muscles flexible while releasing tension that can build up from life stressors. Make it fun! Use music or follow an online video. Self-care has become even more important as we keep ourselves and other safe this holiday season.

Sometimes we need reminders about what makes us smile, what makes us feel 'warm and fuzzy'. Why not create a 'feel good' box? Gather all those items in one place, where you can access them whenever you need to be uplifted. Here is one example http://ow.ly/v3D650CHkJu

Pick a theme: Holiday songs, Disney, Movie Soundtracks and sing together! Even invite friends via virtual chat to participate. You can even spice it up and wear costumes to put on a whole performance! FUN can still exist as we keep others and ourselves safe while staying at home.

Humans are resilient and one way to practice resiliency is to practice gratitude. Starting a gratitude jar or a gratitude journal can help us reframe and write those stories from a place of gratitude. Stay connected with your heart over this holiday season.

For Albertans like Drew Smith and Donna Fallon, it's important to get immunized to protect themselves from influenza. I am a semi-professional musician and COV...ID has put me out of the business of hanging out with my friends, says Smith, who plays the trumpet and sings. I’m really looking forward to getting back together even in a social distancing enviornment, and the flu shot gives me that comfort level that I think it’s important. As for Fallon, getting the flu shot plays a key role in staying healthy. I’m getting the flu shot this year because I believe in insurance. This is another way of protecting my health, she says. Fortunately, I have good health and I’m able to be active, but this year especially, I want that extra insurance. To find out where to get your #flushot, visit www.ahs.ca/influenza, or call Health Link at 811.
