Wow is all I can say. With the help of our community we were able to sponsor 3 families for the holidays. All these gifts, groceries and over $1700 in gift cards and monetary donations. Hi Everyone, Some of you may have noticed the very colourful artwork in our shop, but may not be aware of the who the artist is or its associated history. The artist is Maud Lewis, and she is my Great Grandmother! Maud was born in Nova Scotia (where I was born as well) and died in 1970. She had rheumatoid arthritis, but that didn't stop her from making all her wonderful paintings. I never knew Maud, but any of you who saw the 2018 movie about her (called Maudie), my Mom was ...depicted as one of Maud's daughter's children. I am very proud of my Great Grandmother and the joy that she has brought through her paintings. I've talked to a number of people in the shop who recognized her paintings and they suggested that I should consider promoting her further in the shop, since she led such an interesting life and is a Canadian folk hero and a rich part of Nova Scotian history (which I am also very proud of). The picture posted here is of a special stamp that has been issued this year by Canada Post celebrating the life of Maud Lewis, with one of her iconic winter scenes. I love chatting about Maud so feel free to mention it when you're in the shop or even over message. The more people that know about and appreciate her art, the better!

Here at CreekSides we are starting to collect food and toys for our community. Christmas can be a very stressful time of year for many and we would love to lighten that financial stress for some. We have a couple families we would like to help, but with the help of our customers and community we would love to hopefully help more. So if you would like to drop off any non-perishable food, grocery store gift cards or unwrapped new toys/clothing, you can just bring them to my s...hop.
