It is SUPER EASY to SPEAK for the SALMON which means speaking for the BEARS, the TREES, our entire WEST COAST ecosystem... Simply Click Below to send a letter to our Fisheries Minister, Bernadette Jordan, urging DFO to reinvest in salmon monitoring in Canada’s Great Bear Rainforest and to use this data to inform management decisions. Greg and I, with our friends Jeff and Ione, joined conservationist Kylie Anderson up in the Phillips River Estuary a couple years ago to help ou...t with the salmon count. It was an incredible awe inspiring experience!! I hope we can help out again though more importantly, it'd be nice to see future counts become redundant due to thriving salmon numbers Here is what pacific Wild shares: There are so many threats to wild salmon that it’s easy for politicians to avoid and delay action but investing in population monitoring is something the government can do immediately. The Department of Fisheries and Oceans Canada (DFO) is neglecting the most basic element of management: counting the fish. What little data they have points to serious concerns in downward trending populations. Still, this data is not being responsibly used in fishery management decisions. Less than 50% of the 2,592 salmon populations in the Great Bear Rainforest region of B.C. are being counted. To protect wild salmon, we need our government to invest in Indigenous Guardians and Stewardship programs and charter patrolmen. Ensuring that on the ground monitoring is well supported will help close this knowledge gap by acquiring population data for uncounted streams. How can our government make management decisions for threatened salmon species when they don’t even have accurate information on their population health? Tell your friends. The Pacific Wild Team

And the girl asked the horse "How long will it take? How long will it be, before I am returned? Back to what and who I was. Back, when I was a little younger th...an now." Back, to Wise. Wild. Innocence. The Horse replied. "It is not how long. The question you want answered, is what. What will it take." The girl sighed. "Yes. What will it take?" The Horse looked her full in the eye. "It will take courage. Do you know what that means? "No" whispered the girl. "But, I think my heart does?". "It does. Your heart knows. And it will take your whole heart, and nothing less". "How will I know, when I get there? When I'm returned?" The Horse touched the girl's chest softly, with his warm, velvety muzzle. Her heart beat quickened. Its tempo, moving from a slow trot into a canter now. "You won't know, not in your mind. You will feel it. Right here. And I'll be with you. Riding through the night. Through the dreamland. Every step. I'll be with you".

Preparing a woodpecker for winter. First he finds a dead tree and starts making holes for the acorns. Each hole is made very thoughtfully, because if the hole... is large, other birds can easily steal the acorn. If the hole is narrow, the nut can break and deteriorate. By the end of summer, the woodpecker's "jewelry" work ends, by this time the acorns ripen and take their places in the tree. The trunk of a large tree can hold about 50,000 acorns, allowing the bird a satisfying winter. See more
