Sharing one of our favourite projects today on #WorldArchitectureDay | A day to appreciate the beauty of design that's all around us (whether you're at home, in the office or walking the streets of our beautiful city)! We were engaged by Wind River, an international high tech firm, to redesign their #Ottawa facility. Although there was still a requirement to retain a fairly high number of closed offices, the design incorporated progressive elements, such as lower panels for ...open workstations, flexible closed office furniture arrangements to allow for meetings, and collaboration furniture settings located in the open office space to allow for impromptu discussions, and as a way to provide a transition zone between teams. http://www.chmielarchitects.com/project/wind-river/ #OttawaArchitecture #OttawaArchitects #OfficeDesign

#Throwback to one of our favourites projects working with the team at Rideau Carleton Raceway. The project involved the upgrade and renewal of the Rideau Carleton Raceway dining and viewing gallery, washrooms, and the banquet hall. The project comprised 1,800 M2 on two floors of the building. Fresh new look for this kitchenette, recently completed by Chmiel Architects for a local government client. Some of our favourite features include the pendant lights from LBL, wood slat ceiling from Decoustics and Laminam polished porcelain slab counter from Stone Tile International. This project, for CFORP (Le Centre Franco), converted an under-used industrial building previously a print shop (and originally a bowling alley) into their new headquarters. The column free space, combined with high sky-lit ceilings and smooth concrete floor provided a perfect framework upon which to create a new dynamic workspace for staff. #OfficeSpace #Renovation #OfficeArchitecture

Located in the Glebe between Fourth and Fifth Avenues, this premium rental residence will be positioned behind the heritage storefronts along Bank Street. PROJECT HIGHLIGHT | EDC Chmiel Architects was retained by Export Development Canada - EDC as their Advocate Architect for Base Building Services and their Prime Consultant for the delivery of the Interior Leasehold Improvements of their New Headquarters facility.
