This is fascinating!
This could explain a lot for people who don’t feel well often. I know in my family, artificial sweeteners are not our friends.
Great way to lift your mood, play in the soil. Perhaps that’s why the winter blues when it’s cold and frozen here.
Fascinating! I’ve come to the conclusion myself that depression is related to mineral deficiency and gut health. By working on both of them, I’ve come off 3 antidepressants. If I don’t keep up with my regime, I’m back in the dark places of depression.
Do you have blood when you brush your teeth? You may want to check this out.
This will be a fascinating movie when it comes out. Do you think that all the "special needs" we seem to have now could be attributed to some of the "devils we know?"
What to eat? This clears up some common myths. Beef or chicken?
Think we all need a bit more of this.
Love Dr. Mark Hyman and his approach to total health. Great info about keto diet, carbs and fat, and how you should eat.
Do you agree or disagree? Very interesting to contemplate.
Gut health is key to overall health. Are you getting enough probiotics as well as prebiotics?
And this is why buying food can be so confusing. You think that natural flavours is safe and good, but it is not. Natural flavours can include sugar and many other "natural" things that are not good for you.
So confusing to know what to eat. I love Dr. Mark Hyman who says, "If God made it, eat it. If man made it, leave it."
Mac and Cheese lovers can rejoice at this great alternative. I didn't have three hours to make it, so I microwaved the cauliflower and made the sauce on the stove. My Pepper Jack had jalapeno in it, so a bit of spice. Great when craving mac and cheese. https://asweetlife.org/slow-cooker-pepper-jack-cauliflower/
I'm doing the Keto diet as I think it will help with so many of my health conditions. This podcast convinced me all the more that I am on the right track. If you are wanting to heal yourself, take a listen and follow along with me.
Picked up a couple books in Phoenix. Can’t wait to try a few recipes and post pictures.
I heard this in a movie. Do you agree or disagree? If you have to exercise to regulate your weight, your diet is wrong.
Here are some guidelines / rules I am following for basic keto eating (which to me is exactly what our post-op diet should be.) 1. No sugars (simple carbohydrates) white sugar, brown sugar, honey, maple syrup, molasses, corn syrup, beer (contains barley malt), milk (contains lactose), flavoured yogurts, fruit juice, and most fruit. See chart for acceptable sugars. I'm trying to only use the green ones, but I am using Swerve, which also has Xylitol. 2. No starches (complex c...arbohydrates) grains (even whole grains), rice, cereals, flour, cornstarch, breads, pastas, muffins, bagels, crackers, and starchy vegetables such as slow-cooked beans (pinto, lima, black beans), carrots, parsnips, corn, peas, potatoes, French fries, potato chips. This is my huge weakness. LOVE everything in this category, but trying to find good substitutes. 3. Eat protein first (20-30 grams at each sitting). Lean meat with healthy fats gives better protein content than fatty meats. We shouldn't go over 80-90 grams per day as too much protein will turn to carbs. We need the protein to keep our muscles working, but our bodies don't use it for fuel, unless we get too much. We only use carbs or fat for fuel, we (especially me) need to change from living on carbs to living on fat. 4. Next eat low carb vegetables (max of 25 net carbs per day). See the graphic attached for the best low carb veggies. 5. Add healthy fats to your veggies, meat, snacks but don't go over 120 grams per day. There are 3 that I mainly use - olive oil, avocado oil and butter. Coconut oil is also good, I just don't like the taste of it. I'm trying to figure out how to use it as it has so many great health benefits, but to me it just tastes awful. 6. Dairy - some people can tolerate a lot of dairy, which gives protein and fat together - full fat cheese, heavy whipping cream, full fat yogurt, cream cheese, etc. I personally am finding that dairy is not making my tummy feel the best and I am starting to limit it more and more. The basics of this is eating real food made from fresh/raw ingredients at home. It is hard to follow a keto diet on factory made food. I'm on the road for the next 6 days, so I'll have to see how I do making better choices at restaurants. Post of there are other guidelines you are following or what you find the most difficult to follow.
Great article about longevity and BMI. 27 is the magic number with the longest life span, but according to BMI charts, that is considered overweight. Being mildly obese and being in the normal weight category gives you the same rate of longevity. The challenge is to find the number that makes you the healthiest you can be. http://www.berkeleywellness.com//art/overweight-new-normal
