TVO recently highlighted North Bay's pilot program for Dynamic Dispatch and how it is planned to make off peak transit service more effective. The goal is to be more demand responsive during the quieter hours for transit service and focus the service where and when it is needed rather than running bus routes that may have low or no ridership at specific time periods.

.... City of North Bay is strongly encouraging the use of a face coverings anywhere inside a location away from your home and when physical distancing is not possible. We have considered making face coverings mandatory, as Toronto, Ottawa, Windsor & Sudbury have now done, but because of the difficulty in enforcing at that, so far, we have a low COVID-19 spread rate, the City of North Bay has not made face coverings mandatory. Do you think face coverings should be mandatory in places like retail locations and on public transit?

... the new community centre to replace the West Ferris Arena in North Bay is a step closer today after reviewing the final architect's plans for the property. At 85,000 sq. ft. it will be a bit larger than considered in January but has expanded the community meeting spaces, washroom facilities and spectator areas to create multi-sport community centre that will serve the City well into the future. While the City has committed to fund the facility on our own if no other funding is available, recent infrastructure incentive programs have raised hopes that we may prove to be eligible for possible assistance funding - fingers crossed.

.... on the positive side, the Airport Board has been able to confirm Covid-19 Emergency Wage Subsidy for staffing costs with the Federal Government. Requests have also been sent to the Federal Government for additional support by all Municipally owned airports across Canada. Using existing reserves and funds already budgeted for the airport no additional financial support may be required from the City until Fall.

... sorry everyone, due to COVID-19 concerns, all public beaches in North Bay are closed effective 22 May, 2020, until further notice. Most public washrooms are also closed, as is the case in most Municipalities in Ontario, until we are advised otherwise. Enjoy the Spring weather but stay safe.
