King George V is in the Christmas spirit - COVID-style! We absolutely love this clever card based on the 1935 3c King George V Pictorial issue which was sent to us by a customer. Thank you for the kind gesture! #ChrisGreenStamps #CGStamps #Philately

Pleased to share this lovely 2c Small Queen (Montreal Printing) used block of thirteen, with each stamp bearing an OTTAWA CROWN cancel (Lacelle 1784); our research suggest this is the largest known multiple with this cancellation. - A beautiful and unique block to add to your collection: http://bit.ly/CGSCanadaSC36 #ChrisGreenStamps #CGStamps #Philately #Stamps

Chris was delighted to join hosts Michael Cortese and Charles Epting for the latest episode of Conversations with Philatelists, where they discussed the rewards of running a bricks-and-mortar stamp shop, the foundations of the philatelic community, and the business of philately in the midst of a pandemic. - Watch the full discussion here: https://bit.ly/ConvoWithPhilatelistsEp27 #ChrisGreenStamps #CGStamps #Philately #Philatelists #StampShop

A new stamp issued by the US Postal Service in August, 19th Amendment: Women Vote, commemorates the centennial of the ratification of the 19th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution, guaranteeing women the right to vote. The stamp honors the suffrage movement and the people who carried it through to fruition. - Learn more about the #WomensRights movement in the United States and story behind the #WomenVoteStamps: https://bit.ly/2HHPehN - #19thAmendmentStamps #Philately #WorldOfStamps

This stampless folder letter from 1795 was written by army officer Gothar Mann, inspector of the fortifications at Quebec, to his daughter in England. - In 1785, Mann was sent to Quebec as captain and commanding engineer, charged with preparing defenses for the possibility of war with the United States. He writes of the challenges of receiving mail from the United Kingdom, noting "our patience in waiting for news from England is nearly exhausted, we have not yet received eith...er the November or December Packets..." - A scarce and early stampless letter with neatly-struck Quebec Bishop Mark, this is a timeless addition to your #PostalHistory collection. #ChrisGreenStamps #CGStamps #Philately

A very kind customer of ours found this neat, vintage 1970s board game at a local thrift shop and passed it along to us. A fitting addition to our little shop display of interesting philatelic memorabilia! We've never seen one like it - how about you? - #Philately #PhilatelicMemorabilia #VintageBoardGames #ChrisGreenStamps #CGStamps

The 1935 Silver Jubilee of King George V is a wonderful collecting area. While the common design issues offer tremendous opportunities to hunt for varieties, this Australian set, depicting the King on his horse "Anzac," is one of our favourites. - Add this set to your collection here: http://bit.ly/CGSAustraliaSC152-4 - #ChrisGreenStamps #CGstamps #SilverJubilee #KingGeorgeV

Major-General Arthur Edmund Sandbach was a graduate of Eton College and the Royal Military Academy, Woolwich, and was commissioned in the Royal Engineers in 1879 at the age of 20. He served in multiple colonial campaigns, including the Anglo-Egyptian War, the 1885 Sudan campaign, the 1886-7 Burmese Expedition, and the 1888 Sikkim Expedition. He later served in the Nile Expedition of 1898, and in South Africa during the Second Boer War. This particular cover and letter was sent from Major Sandbach to his father, from on board the S.S. Oxenholm en route to Malta from Egypt. - Read our full blog, 'Arthur Sandback and the Arabi Rebellion', for a taste of his last days in Egypt, and his expectations for the journey home. http://bit.ly/CGSBlogArthurSandbach #ChrisGreenStamps #CGstamps #PostalHistory

The Bermuda Keyplates are some of our favourite issues; their detailed designs and bright colours make them tremendously attractive, while the myriad shades and varieties, not to mention plate flaws, allow for fascinating study.
