The stock market has seen a lot of volatility over the past few months due to the ongoing pandemic. Have you dipped your toes into the world of stock trading? If so, what has your experience been like so far?

Do you have mortgage insurance through your bank? Do you understand it? Are you confident your claim wouldn't get denied if you or your partner were to die? If you said yes to all of these, you should google the term "post-claim underwriting". This is where you have the pleasure of paying inflated premiums, and then your bank will decide whether or not you actually qualify for this insurance after you die. I provide my clients with life insurance that costs less, covers you for more, and you can count on when you need it. Message me if you want to talk about switching.

Life insurance has been getting a lot more attention lately as our mortality is top of mind with the ongoing pandemic. Insurance companies have also made it easier than ever to get insured. You can now complete the entire process remotely by phone or video call and most young healthy individuals are not required to undergo any medical exams for typical coverage amounts. Is life insurance something you've thought about before? Have you been thinking about it more recently? If you want to talk about the benefits of life insurance and the options available to you, shoot me a message and let's chat.

Great article about the changes in the average persons spending during the pandemic. Are you seeing an increase in savings or the amount of money you have left at the end of the month? Are you struggling financially right now? I'd love to have a conversation with you either way!

Keep an eye out for this, I'm sure we're all eager to see how things will begin to get back to normal.

If you recieved multiple government benefit payments, you're not alone. Don't freak out, but also don't blow all the money you just recieved.

If you are looking to apply for employment insurance (EI) and you're not sure how to go about getting started, this link will take you directly to the application page. I know the government of Canada website can be a little overwhelming and confusing sometimes so I thought it might help you guys to just jump straight into the application. Feel free to shoot me a message if you want some help or have any questions!

The Canadian government will be introducing the "Canada Emergency Response Benefit" in early April. $2000 for up to 4 months, even for those who typically wouldn't be eligible for EI benefits. Those who are already on EI at this point will not be able to claim both by the looks of it. Feel free to message me if you'd like to discuss this new benefit, or other possible benefits you might be eligible for at this time.

Quick article and video arguing against the concept of trying to "time the market". The general concept of timing the market is that you would take your money out when the market is falling, and then reinvest that money once it has "bottomed out". While great in theory, this has proved to be tough to actually accomplish, even for experienced financial professionals. The risk you take by trying to time the market is that you could actually miss the rebound while you're waiting... for the magical jackpot number that you have in your head (which of course no one can actually know). Now, not only did you miss out on the returns you would have if you had just left your investment alone, but you may end up having to reinvest at a higher price than you originally sold. In the end you have not made a profit off of timing the market, you have actually put yourself into a worse position than before.

Credit card debt. Something most of us are probably familiar with. The key to staying out of debt, is creating a budget (income vs. spending) and making sure you don't spend more than you earn. Sounds like a simple concept, so why is debt such a big part of our lives?

This link takes you straight to the WHO (World Health Organization) website, and to the situation report page. A new report is released every day, outlining what I consider to be the most accurate COVID-19 statistics overall, and broken down by country as well. There are also "highlights" on the first page that contain quick updates, and more in depth advice for the public on the last couple of pages including how to prepare yourself, and respond to different situations you m...ight experience. Canada/USA can be found on page 4. I check in on this daily to stay informed on the outbreak. I personally think relying on the local news for this information leads to more confusion and fear than it should. These situation reports give you unbiased facts, rather than estimates, speculation and opinions that news channels will use to keep you tuned into them.

As I mentioned in my story, I will be posting links related to government financial support for business owners and employees. This link outlines the plans proposed by the federal government. As I find more information, or links that can help you find where you can apply for certain programs, I will share those here as well.

Hey guys, I hope you're all staying safe and keeping busy if you've been stuck at home for the last week. For those of you that are stressed about the COVID-19 outbreak and how to monitor yourself and your family, this link takes you to a quick online self assessment you can take to help put yourself at ease and educate you on the symptoms of the virus.

Phone bills have been out of control for a while. Glad to see someone stepping in and saying enough is enough. I've seen monthly phone bills that cost half as much as my car payment (even without data overage charges), that's crazy if you ask me.

Here's a great article about the benefits of starting to invest early. The earlier you start, the longer your money has to grow, and the faster you will start to see the power of compound interest! Shoot me a message if you want to talk about it!
