New Dawn ~~ Winter sunrises have are some of my favourites to shoot. Not only is sunrise at a bearable hour (I dread those 4:00 AM wake up calls for a summer sunrise), but the colder air makes for some amazing light and contrast. Some of the most amazing fiery skies I’ve seen have been in the winter months. Unfortunately for me, this was not one of them. The high clouds almost completely covered the sun this particular morning, which I was worried was going to be a complete bust. But, just as I was about ready to pack up and head back to the car, the clouds opened up let in just a sliver of light to peak though. I’ll take it! At least that’s how I remember it. And clearly, I have a thing for shooting rocks. ~~ www.chrisnoronhaphoto.com

Sunrise at Horseshoe Falls ~~ It’s always a great feeling when a plan comes through. This shot is from early last year (right before the pandemic). I noticed that the sun was rising right in line with the Horseshoe Falls in Niagara and planned to make it there before sunrise. I live about 2 hours away, and wasn’t thrilled about the super early wakeup call. But in the end, I got super lucky with this beautiful mist and sunlight. It doesn’t always work out that way, but when it does, it’s such buzz! Couldn’t have done it without the @photopills app. ~~ www.chrisnoronhaphoto.com

Story of a lighthouse ~~ When life hands you lemons, open them up in photoshop and edit some magic lemonade. ~ I’ve had the idea for this particular shot for a few years now and things just never seem to work out how I envisioned. For the past few weeks I’ve been messing around with photoshop and figured why not turn the idea in my head into a composite. All the elements are of the same general location, just shot between a total of 3 visits. I’d still like to get this in ca...mera, but I now know that does involve a chain saw (real and not photoshopped). ~~ www.chrisnoronhaphoto.com See more

Had such a great time on The Photographers Podcast with Randy Nickerson, talking about waterfall photography. If you have a moment, give the interview a listen. Thanks again for the opportunity, Randy! https://youtu.be/gfu-X4xlp2Q

Sunset Sky ~~ Light makes photography. Embrace light. Admire it. Love it. But above all, know light. Know it for all you are worth, and you will know the key to photography. Cold Moon Rising ~~ Cold moon 2020. This edit of last weeks full moon is one I’ve been wanting to do for a very long time. And, as much as I would love to jump head first into more advanced astrophotography images (if you thought camera gear was expensive ), I’ll stick with my telephoto lens for now. Now obviously this is a composite image, to show the moon and stars together. FYI the next full moon (the wolf moon) is on January 28th. Fingers crossed for some clear skies! Bluffs Burner ~~l A perfect winter sunset down at the Scarborough Bluffs. I’m notorious for letting images marinate for long periods of time (I’ve been sitting on this one since January of 2019). Every time I went back to it, i seemed to never be happy with the edit. Definitely looking forward to more incredible winter sunrises/sunsets. Do you like to edit and post quickly or do you let your images sit for a while? Would love to hear your comments below. ~~ (This is a 6 shot... pano - Stitched in PS) www.chrisnoronhaphoto.com See more

The Years Last Sunrise ~~ The last sunrise of 2020, from the top of the Scarborough Bluffs. Even with the crazy year we all have endured, there is still a comfort in knowing that the sun will rise again tomorrow. Just imagine the number of sunrises these cliffs that were formed after the last ice age (approximately 13,000 years ago) have witnessed. While yesterdays sunrise maybe already forgotten, tomorrows is still waiting to shine. ~ What are some of your New Years Resolut...ions for 2021? Mine (photography wise) is to study the masters that came before me. Landscape photographers, painters and other artists that made nature their passion. I also want to do more and give back to the photography community in some from or another. I’m still brainstorming that last one. Thank you for continuing to follow along for the ride. ~ www.chrisnoronhaphoto.com See more

Focus ~~ I had almost given up and called my Sunday adventure to shoot birdies a bust. As luck would have it, as I was hiking back to the car to head for a much-needed coffee, this beautiful Barred Owl swooped in out of nowhere. It completely took me by surprise!!! I was able to snap off a few shots before the Bird Paparazzi came running. Not a bad Sunday after all. Come to think of it, I never did get that coffee. ~~ www.chrisnoronhaphoto.com

Night in the city ~~ Well this is definitely something different from my usual nature/bird shots, but it was great to wander around the city at night and take in all the beautiful lights. Gotta say I was way out of my element when it comes to shooting in the city. I’m normally shooting with multiple exposures, time and focal length blending in mind, but here you have to move quickly or you lost the moment. It was a fun challenge, but I’m happy to leave the urban shooting to t...he real killers! #toronto #NightPhotography #nikonCanada ~~ www.chrisnoronhaphoto.com See more

Swril ~~ All in all we had a great fall colour season here in southern Ontario. The leaves changed early and stuck around longer than pervious years. Even rained quite a bit making some of the waterfalls start flowing again. Couldn’t ask for anything more! A stop in the forest ~~ In every walk with nature, one receives far more than he seeks. John Muir ~ Exploring and discovering new places has got to be one of my favourite things to do, even when it involves lugging as much camera gear as my old back can take. So while exploring up north (in the rain), this composition stopped me in my tracks. This tiny little waterfall felt 50 ft tall from where I was standing. Where is your favourite place to go explore? Is it a wooded ...lot, a local shore line, a mountain hiking trail or the busy city life? (Click to see the full sized version) ~ www.chrisnoronhaphoto.com See more
