Grace Enough Episode 5 Tues Feb 2, 2021 The Promise and the Paradox. Pastor Kit reads Psalm 84:1-7 and reflects on Candlemas, the moment recorded in Luke's Gospel when the elder Simeon (then prophetess Anna) cradles 8-day old Jesus in his arms, who sings a joyful song (Nunc Dimittis) upon holding the Light of the world. The promise of Christ's light shining not only for the Jews but for Gentiles/Non-Jews is fulfilled in Jesus' life, death and resurrection. The paradox: it is ...the ascended Christ who holds his beloveds in the crook of his arm, welcoming all to a forgiven life where we can shine. Reflecting on the truth of Jesus as the Light of the world, candles are often dedicated on this day, hence the name Candlemas.
