Anyone else feeling a little sluggish and in need of detoxing post-holidays?! In addition to eating a detoxifying + nutrient-dense diet, avoiding foods that I’m sensitive to, upping the water + herbal teas, I’ve also added this whole food powder from @megafoodcanada into my daily diet. This powder contains a blend of dandelion, artichoke leaf, burdock root, broccoli, cabbage, and parsley leaf; all of which are great at supporting the liver by gently eliminating toxins. It als...o contains a fruit blend, reishi mushroom and schisandra berry, which are all high in antioxidants and vitamins, which nourishes & replenishes the body - which is definitely in need during this time of year. You can add this to a smoothie/ shake, juice, or what I’ve been doing is stirring this into my coconut yogurt (as pictures!) or my grain-free noatmeal during these winter months. Love this product & love this brand! {They produce amazing whole FOOD supplements} See more

With the change in weather I’ve been alternating making matcha tea lattes in the morning for turmeric lattes, which are very warming to the body! Turmeric may help reduce inflammation and also provided antioxidant protection to your cells making it an amazing superfood spice. Thanks to @VistaMagCanada, I’ve been using @prairienaturals Organic Fermented Turmeric powder which increases the nutritional power of the turmeric powder. ... My Favourite Turmeric Recipe: * 1 tsp turmeric powder * 1/2 tsp cinnamon powder * 1/4 tsp ginger powder (I’ll often use a small amount of fresh ginger for extra spiciness) * dash of black pepper {high aids in the absorption of the active component of turmeric - cur cumin!} * 1 cup of unsweetened coconut milk * sweetener of choice (i.e. raw honey or stevia) *optional: 1 tsp coconut butter or coconut oil I often heat/ stir the above in a pot and then add to a blender for extra creaminess but you can also use a frother to do so. #fermentedturmeric #Organicturmeric #prairienaturals #VistaMagCanada #VistaAmbassadors See more

Why should you cut out dairy {yes this includes cheese!} if you are struggling with acne? When it comes to acne (as well as other conditions) research has demonstrated that dairy can contribute to acne in a few ways: 1. Dairy stimulates insulin, which increases IGF1 (insulin-like growth factor) which can contribute to making skin oily, inflamed, and sensitive to male hormones {all of which cause acne}. ... 2. Dairy on it’s own is very inflammatory for many people. Research demonstrates this but I also see this in clinic all the time via food sensitivity testing. The redness that is present in acne is inflammation. 3. Dairy contains hormones, which can alter and affect our own hormones This may contribute to hormonal imbalance, which can be a contributor of acne. Now dairy may not be the only contributor to acne, but I almost always have my clients eliminate dairy IF acne is of concern! There is much to take in to consideration if one is consuming dairy including: The type (goat/ sheep tend to be better digested!)+) The quality (is it organic?) + whether or not an individual has health concerns which can be aggravated by dairy consumption. Luckily there are so many alternatives to dairy which is what I focus on educating individuals on <3

Health Benefits of Cauliflower Did you know that cauliflower is super high in vitamin C! 1 cup of cooked cauliflower contains 73% of the daily recommend amount of vitamin C {anti-inflammatory + immune-boosting} High in antioxidants + phytonutrients {think anti-cancer effects} Especially interesting to note is that research has shown that the Graffiti variety of purple cauliflower has especially strong antioxidant capacity due to its rich concentration of anthocyan...ins. High in Fibre {feeds the healthy bacteria in your gut that help reduce inflammation + also promotes digestive health + great for weight-loss} Hormone Balancing - Cauliflower is part of the cruciferous vegetable family. These veggies have a naturally occurring compound called indole-3-carbinol, which convert to a phytochemical known as DIM - which works to balance excess estrogen from the body. Cauliflower mash is one of our favourite ways to consume cauliflower! Try it instead of mashed potatoes for a lower-carb + higher nutrient option Repost from @vaughannaturalcare Photo Credit: @alizajsokolow See more
