A stay-at-home order is in effect for all of Ontario. Only leave home for essential purposes such as food, health care, exercise or work. It’s the law. Stay home, stay safe, save lives. Learn more about this and other #PublicHealth measures at Ontario.ca/covidresponse.

Pleased to join my colleagues to announce that our government is investing over $700,000 to add new in-patient #MentalHealth beds to Mackenzie Health. This funding will help ensure that more patients and families in #YorkRegion have access to the care they need when they need it.

In response to the increasing risk new COVID-19 variants pose to the health of Ontarians and our health care system, our government is taking immediate action by launching a six-point plan to stop the spread and save lives. Ontario’s plan focuses on six key areas to prevent transmission of new, more contagious COVID-19 variants in communities across the province. Ontario is also mandating on-arrival testing for international travelers at Toronto Pearson International Airpor...t airport effective Feb 1, 12:01 p.m., to address the risks associated with COVID-19 variants. In addition, Ontario is introducing a provincial antigen screening program for the expansion of rapid testing in high priority settings, such as long-term care homes, retirement homes, essential workplaces, schools and congregate living settings. Following public health measures is critical to help stop the spread of COVID-19. A stay-at-home order is in effect. Ontarians are required to remain at home except for essential purposes. Had the opportunity to visit Southlake Regional Health Centre's #COVID19 vaccination centre in #Newmarket today. Through this fantastic partnership with York Region Paramedic Services, Town of Newmarket and York Region, the site can administer over 1,200 vaccines per day, with the ability to scale up pending supply from the federal government.

It was a pleasure to attend this year's #ROMA2021 to discuss how we can continue to work collaboratively with Ontario's municipalities to ensure the health and well-being of Ontarians across the province. Thank you to the Rural Ontario Municipal Association for hosting this year's virtual conference. Our government knows that municipalities are on the frontlines of the province's #COVID19 response, and municipalities will continue to play a key role in ensuring the successfu...l rollout of our provincewide immunization program. Thank you for your tireless efforts in the fight against COVID-19, and we look forward to our continued partnership to ensure the health and well-being of all Ontarians. We are counting on every municipality to support the province's Stay at Home order. Until we have sufficient vaccine supplies from the federal government so that every Ontarian who wishes to receive a vaccine can get one, we will continue to work with our municipal and public health partners to break the deadly trend of transmission in our communities and keep Ontarians safe.

Today, we announced the creation of the Ministers’ COVID-19 Vaccine Distribution Task Force to advise the province on the development and implementation of an immunization program that will lead to the largest vaccine rollout in a generation. We welcome General Rick Hillier (retired) as Chair of the Task Force which includes cross-government & external expertise in operations & logistics, federal-provincial relations, health & clinical domains, public health & immunization, ...ethics & information technology & data. With the encouraging news of a vaccine, we are on the verge of a critical new phase in our efforts to #StopTheSpread of #COVID19. While a vaccine is still months away, there is light at the end of the tunnel. Until then, please continue to follow public health advice. https://news.ontario.ca//ontario-appoints-new-ministers-co
