Parenting must be done with love. How? I am glad you asked ... ... Here are some ways a parent can show love to a child: Spend time with them and be present. Listen more and really hear them out. Presents can never replace presence. Love your children equally (no favoritism) Irrespective of their gender, birth order, potential, or even God’s plan for them, parents must love their children equally. Have fun together, ask for their input in what to do together. Be compassionate. Do not belittle their feelings. Be consistent and show empathy even when they need to be disciplined. Getting ready for church this morning I looked in the mirror and liked how I combined my outfit. In my mind I thought e yah, maybe I should keep this combination for another day. No one will see you dressed up today (new restrictions in my province has reduced capacity of gatherings so church today was just for essential workers to run it for virtual service) I then heard this question in my mind..... Lawumi, so you have been dressing up nice to church for people? I th...ought you came dressed up to my house for my glory and to please me. Moment of repentance right there I was then reminded of the reading in the Bible plan I am currently on and the one from this morning anchored on Romans 12:1 And so, dear brothers and sisters, I plead with you to give your bodies to God because of all he has done for you. Let them be a living and holy sacrificethe kind he will find acceptable. This is truly the way to worship him. NLT Keyword: the kind he (Jesus) will find acceptable. Note to self: do not seek world or church’s acceptance but God’s acceptance. To do: This verse is the litmus test for all we do or think of doing everyday, who am I pleasing??????? My vehicle is a front wheel drive and since we had the last snow dump it has been an annoying task driving around town. The main problem is that even though they were all weather tires and had worked well till now they are now old and needs to be changed. Every bit of mushy snow was a pain to drive through. I have lost precious time while stranded and trying to dig the van out. God bless everyone that have pushed, rocked, and dug me out of front drive way, back alleys, middle... of the road...... I finally got new all weather tires today and as I drove away with confidence and ready to battle all the places that have held my van hostage in the past I am reminded of how that is similar to faith. When our faith is low, worn out, and unmotivated we find ourselves getting stuck at every rough and mushy part of life’s journey. Every little challenge looks like a mountain too hard to climb. Sometimes we even avoid trying because we are afraid of failing. But guess what? The moment you realize that your faith has strong muscles and can move mountains, you stroll through life with the attitude of Simba I laugh in the face of danger hahahah (Lion King). To everyone whose faith is like my old tires that worked fine in summer but couldn’t handle winter, remember, faith comes from daily hearing the word of God and (daily) believing it even when it doesn’t make sense. That’s why the Bible said to renew our minds daily (Romans 12:2). Stay on Faith Avenue, it always leads to possibilities villa. -Even though this year has been one of kind (in a crazy way) I am so glad that my life is pulled together by God. That pulling together has sustained me this far and I am so happy my God’s reputation is 24 carat gold with life guarantee that means as long as I stay in Him, I am set for life!!! As parents and caregivers we teach our children to ask for help, but how often do we remember to ask God for help. The remaining days and weeks of this year may seem too short to still be able to accomplish anything tangible but I do know that the God who made the heavens and the earth is not limited. He is not limited in power or knowledge ... He is not limited by space and distance He is not limited by seasons or time He is not limited in any way If He has said it, then He will do it.
