The Government of Saskatchewan’s current requirement for churches is to reduce worship gathering sizes to a maximum of 30 people. Yesterday, our ELCIC Sask Synod Bishop, Rev. Dr. Sid Haugen, met with rostered and lay leaders via Zoom and requested that all ELCIC congregations in the Saskatchewan Synod suspend in-person worship until the end of January 2021. We are being asked to make an extra effort for the sake of our neighbours - right now rather than later - to better do... our part as congregations and individuals to slow down the spread of COVID-19. Like you, Pastor Karen and the members of our church council wish that we could gather together in our church building this year during Advent and Christmas as is the tradition of this congregation. However, we encourage you to prepare your hearts for Christ’s coming in your home, using worship resources provided through our local congregation and the wider church. Pastor Karen will continue to look for safe ways to reach out to, care for, and support the members of our community, and we encourage all members of this congregation to do the same. Remember your siblings in Christ in prayer - especially the most vulnerable among us and those in positions of leadership - and do not forget our ongoing need for your support through financial gifts. Wishing you peace, joy, love, and - especially this year - hope as Advent begins this Sunday.

On Wednesday, November 25th the ELCIC Sask Synod is offering two virtual town hall meetings via Zoom to discuss the current COVID-19 situation and its ongoing impact on congregations. Our hosts will be Rev. Dr. Sid Haugen, bishop of the Sask Synod, and Rev. Dr. Ali Tote who, in addition to serving as the pastor of Resurrection Lutheran Church in Saskatoon, holds a PhD in epidemiology. The meetings, which will last for 90 minutes, are being offered at 10 AM or 7 PM. Please contact Pastor Karen or the Saskatchewan Synod Office if you need log-in information.
